Midnight Run was funny. He's comedic timing is great. That's the hardest kind of acting there is.

Hands down his best, imo.

Two of his earliest performances I also think were among his best.

Mean Streets, in which he originated his crazy, impulsive gangster type, and Bang the Drum Slowly, in which he played an aww-shucks baseball player with a terminal disease.

Just too many for a top five - the guy warrents a 'top ten'.
