Top 5

1) Baltimore --- vet leadership and good defense
2) Indianapolis --- offense not going anywhere
3) New Orleans --- see above, will walk over softish division
4) Chicago --- well coached and tough team.
5) New England --- defense slipping but Brady with true weapons? scary.

Bottom 5

1) Cleveland --- bad team who gets nod as worst with my wishful thinking
2) Raiders --- worst team in football.
3) Miami --- can't develop or stick to a plan, any plan. front office must have been hanging with ricky.
4) Green Bay --- one of these days Favre will pass the baton, in the meantime he'll toss picks.
5) Washington --- young qb has some potential but is young and both lines are soft.

Surprise 3

1) Houston --- Could sneak into playoffs. Offense will be better under Schaub.
2) Pack --- Everyone expected them to be horrid last year and they were at times but righted ship to be competitive. I expect this time around they really fold it up and go home.
3) Pittsburgh --- I expect them to take a big step back and start looking to replace one-time wonderkid Ben R.

I agree.

I don't have a good feeling about the Steelers' current direction.

I don't see why a successful 3-4 team hires a Tampa Cover 2 guy to run the team and change the defense.

And I think Roethlesberger stunk it up when he was asked to do anything more than 'drive the bus'.

And from his recent quotes, I think that his early success has already gone to his head.

Always respect your opinion (maybe because it usually closley mirrors mine :D ) but you don't think that Indy, Baltimore, or San Diego will be in the top 5 at the end of this season? Personally, I hope you're right... but I can't see all three missing out.

Top-5:
1. Colts - Still the champ until someone knocks them off.
2. Chargers - They have the most talent in the league IMO.
3. Patriots - Always competitive and BB will have them ready.
4. Cowboys - This is our year to represent the NFC.
5. Ravens - Defense, defense, defense.

It was tough to leave Cincy, Chicago, and Denver out but there were only 5 spots.

Bottom-5:
28. Lions - They needed a lot more than a WR to move out of the basement.
29. Dolphins - Talk about a team in turmoil. T Green isn't going to save them.
30. Texans - D Carr wasn't the problem, the O-Line was and they didn't fix it.
31. Raiders - The worst team in the league by far.
32. Browns - Wishful thinking that they will provide us with the #1 pick but it should be close.

I didn't really put much thought into it. ;)

But I can see a scenario where they're not. Indy I'd put back up there, but their defense is not "fixed". It's a miracle they bandaided that run defense up to get through the playoffs.

Baltimore still can't score points.

I'll never put a Norv Turner coached team in the top 5 anythings. (Unless it's a list of "Top 5 most likely teams to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory") San Diego will fall off this year.

Top 5

1. Colts- Last year's champs remain on top.
2. Chargers- Too much talent on this team to not finish near top.
3. Bears- Easy division ensures 6 wins. At least, it should.
4. Broncos- Team on the rise led by a young QB
5. Ravens- Talented defense and an experienced QB at the helm.

Bottom 5
1. Browns- Hopefully, they are this bad.
2. Dolphins- This team is going to tank with an aging defense.
3. Texans. So many problems, so little time (to throw)
4. Vikings- Great run defense supported by a poor pass defense. Jackson takes over at QB and they still wont be able to pass the ball.
5. Giants- Yeah, they are going to have problems.

:laugh2:

I hear ya and that slowed me down a bit before I actually put SD in the top 5.

I had your thoughts as well on the other two and, really, who knows? You might be 100% correct about that.

As long as we do good and Cleveland does terrible, I'm happy;) .

Top 5
1. Indianapolis - I don't see any drop off from last year
2. Baltimore - Great defense, average offense led by a good vet QB
3. New England - The team is on the decline, but they still are one of the best
4. Dallas - The Cowboys will benefit from a very weak NFC.
5. Jacksonville - Great defense. Leftwich will not be consistant enough to get them over the top

Bottom 5
1. Oakland - I think Al Davis is suffering from senility. Why hire an assistant coach from the college ranks to be your new HC?
2. Cleveland - I'm not sold on their defense or Frye. The team also plays in a brutal division.
3. Detroit - Mat Millen just doesn't seem to know what he is doing.
4. Miami - Bad decision after bad decision will doom one of the top franchises for at least a few years.
5. Green Bay - The Packers have a decent defense. They'll need it with all of the interceptions Brett Favre will be throwing this year.

Surprise teams
1. Tennessee - Vince Young surprised me last year. If he can continue to improve his game, the Titans could make things interesting in the AFC South.
2. Buffalo - This team has enough talent to compete for the division in a weak AFC East.
3. Cincinatti - The Bengals have a lot to overcome with all of the off-season problems. The team has the talent to compete, but they have been too inconsistant on defense.

Predicted division rankings
1. AFC Central - Baltimore, Cincinatti, and Pittsburgh are all very good teams. The Browns will get clobbered. :D
2. AFC South - Only Houston is bad. Indy and Jacksonville should be very good. Tennessee should at least be decent.
3. NFC East - Dallas and Philly should make this division the toughest in the East. The Giants will probably be decent. The Commanders are probably in for a long season.
4. AFC East - New England is one of the better teams in the league. The age of the team is a concern. Key injuries could doom them in 2007. The Jets are decent and mad the playoffs last year. The Bills could make some noise. The Dolphins are just horrible.
5. NFC South - New Orleans is very good. Carolina and Atlanta should be decent, and Tampa should be better than last year.
6. AFC West - San Diego downgraded their coaching staff and it will show in the W-L column. Denver appears improved and will compete with SD for the division. Kansas City and Oakland will not be much of a factor in 2007.
7. NFC West - This division is full of average to below average teams. It should be a very entertaining division race with the winner making a quick exit from the playoffs.
8. NFC Central - Other than Chicago, this division is absolutely pathetic. Minnesota has an underwhelming QB who most fans can't name; Green Bay has the 100 year old Brett Favre who refuses to realize that the Packers have no shot at winning a superbowl anytime soon; and Detroit has a decent offense with a bunch of failed first round receivers to go along with a really bad defense.

If I had to pick a surprise, I would say that I think Oakland can win 6-7 games in '07.
