We have a franchise QB but most of the fans here won't allow him to develop and sit back and wait for one mistake so they can bash him. By doing that they miss the entire point that it's the coaching staff."What happened to that vaunted Jaguars D?"
Shredded in Pittsburgh AND New England
"What about the Vikings?"
Shredded by Nick Foles in a championship game (let that sink in for a while).
"Okay, well, Philly's D can take down Brady and the Patriots."
You know that will be the rhetoric over the next 2 weeks. If you believe that, let me have some of that kool aid you're drinking.
Enough of this "build through the defense" crap. Give me a franchise QB with a stout OL, good HC, and serviceable defense and you can keep your "top notch" D with a pedestrian QB. This is the way it is in the modern day NFL. Especially since so many defensive maneuvers that were acceptable 30-40 years ago would get flagged today.
Edit: New England's D is better than average for sure, probably top 10 in the league, but they can be had too. But when you have Brady and Bill...
Almost all the SB winning teams had very good defense. Your "serviceable defense" has been Jerry Jones motto for the last 20 some years, how has that worked? Without Great defense you have NO chance, I repeat NO chance of getting to a SB. Now, it does not hurt to have an efficient offense and ST as well. Having very good coaching for a team plan, schemes, and using your talent efficiently doesn't hurt either."What happened to that vaunted Jaguars D?"

Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Vrabel, Bruschi, Colvin, and Teddy Washington disagree w/ the DB thingie.Pats win their first few SBs on basically great DB play.. that’s why they beat Manning those years.
And Mark Rypien was MVP the year he won and the reason being, his OL was probably the greatest ever and that line only gave up 7 sacks the whole year. QB play that year for the Redskind was not Dilfer management type of play.
Yes those defenses were great but their 3rd SB was a complete team win. On offense, that was their first year where they didn't struggle scoring with the addition to Dillon and we started seeing Tom Brady being the player that we know.Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Vrabel, Bruschi, Colvin, and Teddy Washington disagree w/ the DB thingie.
Seriously, those Pats D's were stacked top to bottom. I'd have to disagree they won it on DB play, but they did win their first 3 on D play. I think McGinest was there for at least 2 of them also.
