You didn’t include A Nightmare on Elm Street as a slasher. You’re dead to me. :lmao:

Freddy was a resurrected serial killer ghost, wasn't he ? ... i thought to put him in the ghost area.

The girl Next Door
I can not watch that movie again. Although it is fiction is is based on some real stuff. Just terrible stuff done to that poor girl.

The last house on the left is another one that is difficult to watch.

I think those two bother me because they are more realistic than say a monster or some sort killing people.

The Strangers I can watch and enjoy but that is another one the is based in more reality than a monster or ghost movie.

The Entity. When I was younger this was a completely crazy movie that was said to be based on real things. I tried watching it a year or so ago and it does not hold up well but still freaky stuff in it.

I like the Insidious movies, last one was kind of Meh but overall I like them.

Another recent movie similar to Insidious is It Feeds. It has its problems but good movie for never hearing of it before.

Talk To Me and Bring her back are both good horror movies IMO. Same people did the movies so curious what they will do next.

Liked get out but was kind of let down with Jordans other two movies.

Pumpkinhead ...sure the movie had many issues but Pumpkinhead was killer looking and the old witch was creepy as well.

I saw the devil...love this korean movie.

For found footage movies I'll throw a shout for The Last Broadcast. It came out before Blair Witch and a lot of people think Blair copied the idea from it.

I am not a big fan of horror movies, but Night of the Living Dead has to be near the top. It started an entire genre of zombie flicks and series.

Alien was pretty important too. It was the horror of Jaws, only not going into the water would not save you!

The Thing (1951) was also an important flick. It had its moments of horror. In that same category, Predator was a big deal too.

I would include Forbidden Planet in there as well. War Of the Worlds (1953) also started something.

Finally, a movie I hate because it started the entire era of evil triumphs over good in Hollywood, Rosemary's Baby should be on the list.

You made some great points of some movies that started a generation era ..ala Aliens, Predator, .. but when we hear asked of what horror movie
is considered the " Scariest Horror movie of All time " .. the very one i'm constantly hearing, seeing lists, rankings and polls seem to be always pointing to 1973 horror classic
" The Exorcist " . . Even after all of these decades and age generations, even to this very day and time The Exorcist still seems to be THE single horror film all the scaries will be compared to... ..

heck, i even was curious to see what A.I. technology had to offer when i input that question of ' what movie considered the scariest horror movie of all time" .. and
boom,.. sure enough, A.I. gave me William Blatt's extraordinary legendary 1973 classic.

i guess it can be a discussion as to what exactly made the Exorcist such a one of a kind.

Yes, I have to agree. I forgot about this one. The Exorcist also started an entire genre of possession movies and shows. And it was pretty frightening.

A few years after this movie hit the theaters a good friend of mine gave me a book to read about possession. It was supposedly written by a priest with first hand knowledge and experience about possessions and demons. Again, it was supposedly written by a priest so the stories took on an authenticity beyond that of the Exorcist book and movie. This book was a series of "true" stories involved people who were possessed and I have to confess, even at an age when I was jaded about everything, this books scared the you know what out of me. After I read it, I was afraid to keep the book in my house! LOL

Top Vampire Movies
I like the ones where the plot is to fight their way out of a #*# hole in one night. Moves like From Dusk Til Dawn and Sinners.

Top Werewolf Movies
Never liked warewolf movies. They just don't seem that interesting.

Top Zombie Movies
I like my zombies the same way I like my vampires. One great, fight it out movie. Dawn of the Dead! And I like the remake the best. If you haven't seen that in a while, I didn't realize the goofy father from Modern Family is a great bad guy a-hole in that flick. I would watch Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2 over most zombie movies.

Top Ghost Movies
If done right, these can be awesome. Poltergeist, The Sixth Sense, The Ring, Ghostbusters, Ghost, etc... But the campy ones I never watch.

Top Demon Movies
Too campy for me. Have a lot of potential though if they could make more interesting ones. I like creative ones like DeathNote on Netflix, ones where they have to sell their soul. I really enjoyed the two IT movies, and intend on watching the TV show.

Top Slasher movies
Enjoyed them as a kid, don't watch them nowadays. Saw most of Friday 13th and Nightmare Elm Streets growing up so I go with them.

Top Animal/Pest Attack Movies
The Birds - big Hitchcock fan. Honorable mention to all-time classic Jaws.

Top Alien/Space Horror
Aliens all the way!

Top Pyschic/Premonition Movies
I like all of Jordan Peele's horror movies which are mostly in this theme. I don't know if this qualifies as horror, but I really liked Nicholas Cage's movie, Knowing. I guess Black Note would be this? And Hearts of Atlantis? Along with the Ghost theme, I think these make for the best ones.

Top Witchcraft Movies
The Omen. Rosemary's Baby. All classics. They should make more serious horror dramas on the Anti-Christ. Always good for a watch.

I just watched Poltergeist tonight, first time in about 20 years, the impression it left on me at 12 years old still lingers

The girl Next Door
I can not watch that movie again. Although it is fiction is is based on some real stuff. Just terrible stuff done to that poor girl.
I read The Girl Next Door and never read another Jack Ketchum book again. It's the most horrible soul crushing book I've ever read, even as a piece of fiction.

I just can't get into horror movies. Of the entire list The Shining is probably the only one that scared me. Slasher movies especially bore me. I'm sorry but I'm not fighting Jason or Freddy with a kitchen knife. No, I'm laying across the street with my 30.06 and it's movie over.

Serial killer movies scare me more. Silence Of The Lambs, Seven, American Psycho, and Taxi Driver are the type that get under my skin.
