I'll probably do this every other week or so, but here's how I see the top ten currently unfolding:
1. Carolina - Da'Quan Bowers. Hard to get a read on them as they could go any number of different directions. I don't think they feel confident in taking any QB this high and will hope that Clausen can have a better sophomore campaign. The Cam Newton machine is still very much a factor here.
2. Denver - Patrick Peterson. Denver needs help everywhere on defense and will likely take whomever is rated highest on their board. Fairley or Dareus could happen due to moving back to a 4-3, but their is arguably a huge gap between PP and any other corner in this draft. 2nd round will still have many good d-lineman for them to draft.
3. Buffalo - Marcell Dareus. I've mocked Newton here previously and think that the Bills like him, but would rather select him in the middle of the round value-wise. Since no one will want to move up, they select Dareus to get their money's worth. He's scheme-diverse and Buffalo plays a bit of everything.
4. Cincinnati - Cam Newton. Carson Palmer has single-handedly wrecked their draft plans as AJ Green or Julio Jones made 100% sense here. With no one else on their roster with any starting potential and a top five pick, it's time to start over and hope Newton can deliver on his potential.
5. Arizona - Von Miller. The Cardinals love affair with Miller is legit from what I'm hearing from my friends down south. He's a perfect fit with the Cardinals scheme-wise and value. This is the slam dunk pick of the draft IMO.
6. Cleveland - AJ Green. I would have had Fairley going here had it not been for the Bengals implosion, but I think they will look to grab a #1 wideout and hope for some second tier defensive lineman to be available in the second round.
7. San Francisco - Prince Amukamara. I'm not buying the QB argument as SF and Harbaugh are staying in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. If it comes down to this or a pass rusher, I think they'll go corner so Nate Clements can move to a nickel role.
8. Tennesee - Nick Fairley. Teams are starting to be slightly concerned about Fairley's maturity. That being said, he's great value at this position and with all of the QB's having major issues, the Titans decide on getting immediate help on the d-line vs. a project.
9. Dallas - JJ Watt. I'm starting to like this guy more and more. With no corners worthy of this pick and a few flirtations with Robert Quinn, we ultimately go with a five-technique that will give 100% each and every play. Tyron Smith will merit some consideration, but with Watt ranked higher on the board, our streak of not drafting OL in the first round continues.
10 Washington - Julio Jones. The Alabama protege as solidified himself as a top 15 pick. Snyder and Shanny decided not to enter the QB roulette game and instead grab a potential #1 wideout. Suffiice to say that Jones could bug us for years and hopefully won't make Jenkins his chew toy.
