You need to rethink that. You have no martial art type movies
I SHOULD have included “My favorite” in the thread title. I’m not big on the dime-a-dozen chop suey flicks, so throw out some names, and I’ll consider an adjustment.

You should have. I'm not up for making a list, but there are high quality martial arts type movies from all over.

I will run my mouth off about your list a little. John wick 2 and 3 should only be on a list of reasons why k reeves should not make trilogies. Man of Tai chi was a cool reeves action movie, but not a top one

The book of Eli was a good movie, but a blind guy slowly walking around for an hour and a half is not an action movie.

That is all I have

Like I said before, this is my twenty faves, and I’m not big on generic chop suey stuff. Which movies stand out for you? Why can’t you name any?

By the way, there’s PLENTY of action in the Book of Eli. How would you classify it? Western? Horror? Rom Com? Multiple gunfights, explosions, souped up cars, death, etc. Doesn’t that hint action? I like a good story, otherwise, what’s the point? Two hours of guys fighting and explosions without a plot or good characters gets old.

I am driving around at work. Besides what you listed the only movies I can think of off hand is the Conan movies, and that is only because I have been driving around to the soundtracks

That is a big time frame, I will list some good ones later.

You might be right about the book of Eli.

Most of my favorites appear somewhere on this list. It includes A LOT of movies I’d call Science Fiction/Space or Superhero/Fantasy. My original post actually meant straight, reality-based action—hand to hand combat, gunfire, car chases, explosions, etc., with action stars like Jason Statham, Keanu Reeves, Liam Neeson, etc., etc., within the last 20 years. I loved Nobody, which had a lot of black humor and derring-do. Red was cool with its hipster lingo, and John Wick with its civil code among assasssins. I enjoy Denzel, and Arnold’s goofy one liners. Ryan Reynold’s deadpan sarcasm, Matt Damon’s deadly speed and grit, and Liam Neeson’s determination and intelligence.

what about Keanu Reeves' Matrix movie flicks ..?

I thought matrix and john wick were special movies. They were really good The other 2 in the series were not very good.

John Wick 2 and 3 remind me of the black widow character. She should be dead within 10 minutes of fighting with enhanced/superhero/alien characters. I don't get why she is in those movies and useful. The same thing with John Wick. He should be dead in the first 10 minutes of fighting the top assassins in the world in 2 and 3. In the first one he had to have his assassin friend guard and save him.

Nice list! I forgot True Lies and Payback!

I liked payback. Mel Gibson made some good movies, Maverick was good too.

I couldnt come up with any martial arts movies I would put on it, but it would take a long time for me to come up with a top 20 action movie list. I looked through 1 list someone else made, and it made remember animated action movies, low key movies, other language movies, etc. It is too hard to figure out genres

I enjoyed a lot of jet li movies. The ones with dmx alliyah, and tom arnold were more of american blockbuster movies, but I don't think I would put them in the top 20. Kiss of the dragon and romeo must die were good action movies. I would put a bunch of animated movies up there, even a kung ** panda sort of movie, but I don't think it is that type of list. Ongbak dude made really good action movies. Ninja assassin had good fight scenes, Jackie chan made some really good fantasy action ones, I like the ones with him and arnold schwarzenegger.

That was from looking at 1 list from someone with a few movies. I can't even remember action movies I have watched in the past 5 years, 22 years is big

It is too hard for me to make a list, good job from you 2

Payback is hard to find for some reason, but I loved it. There were two endings—one where the top boss was a woman; the other had Kris Kristofferson and a big explosion. Which one did you see?

I’ll make a list and revise it 19 times, because I always forget some.

It is too old of a movie, and out of the time range. Both are disqualified.

The woman boss who they never revealed her face ..was from the Director's Cut

i am glad i got to see the Director cut, .but i far prefer the original version
with Kristoffen. and the climax ending was far more dramatic and exciting the the Director's cut. (per ordering it DVD on Ebay)

Plus i like the music theme and score of original over director cut version.

Yeah, I didn’t like the Director’s cut as much.
