Torn ACL for WR Kemp

Seeing that he was not going to make the roster, I wonder if he can somehow benefit financially short-term from this. Hope so.

Either he goes IR and gets full salary, or negotiated buyout with waived-injured.

Probably injury settlement, and be released. Doubt they ad him to IR. Depends on what they think his long term possibilities are. Do they want him in camp next year.

WR's just can't stay healthy...

That sucks for him. Hope he has a speedy recovery and can get on with another team.

Give all the injuries to the team, I suppose a guy with little chance of making the team is best case scenario to take the big one.

Sucks but better him than any of the big stars.

Jerry should IR him for taking one for the team. The injury bug has been hunting all camp.

If he tore his ACL, then he can't play this season, so there's no reason for him to accept an injury settlement. He'll go on IR and earn $273,000 this season.

The way this off-season is going, I fully expect romo to go down before September 5th.

That's what I was thinking...that he actually came out ahead big time...for this year anyway.

I'm assuming right now he was in camp on a tiny UDFA signing bonus and a small per diem (maybe 500 -1000 per week or so)

Right now, do was have any starters for sure out for opening game?
Maybe assume Witten is out.
But other than that, aren't we at 100%?

as resident UTEP homer, I have to chime in with disappointment. He was a long shot to make the roster, but he's a good guy. hate to see him go down to injury.

Well it sucks for the player and as a fan of the team he played for in College it sucks for you.

With that said, even though this probably makes me sign like the bad guy, I think I only recall hearing a very small amount of blurbs on the guy so, as you said, he was a long shot to make the roster.

Hope everything works out ok for him though.

I was just about to post how guilty I felt for being relieved that it was he and not someone likley to contribute......til I saw this.

I'm certain we have posters who'd tear their own ACL for that much cash.

nah, even I thought he'd be a camp body at best. physically he has the ability to be a decent WR, but had a knack for dropping the big passes ..definitely not clutch and when you're trying to make it as a #4/#5/#6 WR, you gotta be clutch the few chances you get (like Jesse Holley in the SF game). I hoped maybe on special teams but didn't hear anything about him in that regard either...oh well, at least he got a shot.

I'd like to add that he tore the same ACL that he had recontructed in 2010.

Don't they have to waive him injured first, and have him clear waivers, before placing him on IR? Otherwise, wouldn't they have to keep him on the roster until the season starts, before they can place him directly on IR?

Yes, but I don't see why another team would claim him.

I'm100% sure they won't, but then again, I didn't think any team would claim Nagy either. Guess Detroit must have thought Nagy could make it back this year. Who knows? Maybe they just like him and want him in camp next year.

There is no chance of that. I just wanted to make sure I understood the procedure.
