TO's psychology - How would you handle this situation?

I don't think TO is lying about his hamstring. But I do think there is a battle of wills going on between TO and Parcells. In other words, I think TO CAN practice at half speed like everyone else can. I do think he can be out there with his teammates.

Everyone prides Parcells on the mind games he plays. Knowing how to push buttons of his players. But I think Parcells has handled TO very wrong.

As stubborn as TO can reportedly be, he has a very fragile ego. We all know TO prides himself on his conditioning and his physique. We also know he has bragged over and over about how fast he heals. We also know he's in his 30's now. Parcells should challenge his ego. A simple explanation from Parcells to the media regarding T.O.s inability to get out on the field should go a little like this:

"We all know T.O.'s no spring chicken. He's getting up there in age and it's very common for guys in their 30s not to be able to recoup from injuries as fast as guys in their mid 20's. It's just a fact of life."

I think a statement like this would have TO out on the field within a few days if he's truely able.

Taylor, Spags, pass it on.

There is no real rush here.

We have five or six weeks to the trade deadline.

If the season starts well, and TO is behaving, stick with it. If it starts well and TO is still a question/unknown, cut his bunns and cough up a draft pick to get a WR in here.

If the season starts poorly, cut his bunns and see what the youth can do.

Never heard of him? Who is T.O.?

That's a good thought but I think TO is so volatile that BP is being careful not to really say anything that is overtly negative in any fashion. Parcells really doesn't know the guy and I think he wants to earn TO's trust before making statements if possible. In other words Bill has to get leverage. He has none now. Usually he uses his motivation tricks on either a young upstart type of player who Bill has all the leverage over; or on a veteran who has trust and respect for BP and the player doesn't want to disappoint him.

Neither situation exists with TO. Bill needs some time to get things right with TO. The time will most certainly start wearing down fast if TO doesn't answer the bell on September 10.

Additionally, BP may be talking to TO privately or getting messages to TO privately and not in the press. Public statements may make TO never trust Bill and destroy the relationship before it even starts.

I like our team. I think the makeup is there for us to make a serious run.

But TO is not a championship-type player. Sure, he helped get the Eagles to the SB (as if any NFC team was any good) and toughed out a good performance. But he doesn't seem mentally tough at all.

The slightest thing sets him off.

Babies don't win championships.

Given his past history, there is only one true answer.

Prayer.

And a hell of a lot of it.

Like Michael Irvin said, what good is it for a WR to practice at half speed?

If the goal is to develop timing, what good is it to be running at a slower pace than game speed, what good is timing between Bledsoe and TO at half-speed? Other positions can afford to go at less than 100% in practice, but for receivers to do it just makes any 'timing' developed meaningless and opens the door for further injury.

Michael Irvin don't know what he's talking about!

Who's he, anyway?

I would throw him in the Tower of London for about two weeks stretch him out a bit......that would cure the hammy and the mind.

He's an interesting case ...he ignores physicians to come back and play for the eagles with pins in his leg; only to hold out in practicing with the Cowboys because of a lingering hamstring pull.

I belieev the The Eagles GM demonstrated the appropriate method of handling this situation ...no one bothered to follow suit!
