Tour Package or book my own trip

If this has been asked before, sorry. I couldn't get the search to work. I am planning on going to the Giants game, on Dec 14th, the week after I see the Cowboys come to my hometown and crush the Steelers. This is my first trip to the stadium, and I am unsure whether to use a company that has a full package or book my own room and buy my own ticket. So I am wondering who has used any of these companies, what was their experience like and most importantly, for what they paid was it worth it? If not where is a good place to get a affordable ticket? I am planning on coming in on a Friday, for the Stars and Red Wings game, so I can boo Hossa, and then going back to Pittsburgh on Monday. Thanks for the help.

I've used this tour company before:

http://www.sportsconxtion.com/

It's run by a die-hard Cowboys fan...

I'd look into booking the trip yourself if you have the time to do so--Giants tickets, if you buy them not with a package deal are gonna be expensive...

So are most tour packages set for two people, minimum? I was tossing around the idea of if I could make a trip to Texas Stadium possible. I have never been there..

I'm looking at going to the same game. I think the package deal is the way to go. Unless you have some connections or something to get cheaper air fare, cheap tickets and a cheap hotel, you're going to spend just as much either way - but with the package at least you've got someone else taking care of all that for you.

Correction - you'll spend more for the packages, I got the numbers mixed up, lol.

I don't know if this applies to all of them, but I looked at a place that booked Cowboys trips and they were stupid expensive. They wanted like $699 a person. Just to compare, my wife and I went to the Miami game last year (From New York) and we spend around $900 and that included two nights at a 4 star hotel in Ft Lauderdale, two plane tickets, and a rental car. Thats 44% cheaper and we weren't tied to a group and we had a rental car to drive around in and see whatever sights we wanted to see.

The one thing you get with booking like that is you are surrounded by a bunch of Cowboys fans. (that can be a down side too, at least my wife would have hated that!) On the other hand, finding Cowboys fans in Miami wasn't very hard considering the Cowboys were in town and all the fans were sporting their Cowboys gear!

I go down every year. I do it on my own. Start looking at air and hotel in April, then tix in June and July. I get some pretty good prices for air/hotel combos from Orbitz or Yahoo travel. We make a sports weekend of it. This year it's TCU vs. Wyoming on Sat night, Dallas vs. Tampa on Sunday. In the past we have also hit either a Stars game or a Mavs game to boot. I'm getting to know the area well. Hardly ever need my maps anymore.
