Cameron Burrell one of our fastest 100m sprinter committed suicide, happened yesterday. His father Leroy a former 100m world record holder and the current track coach at Houston along with Carl Lewis. This totally sucks.

Obviously I have no idea the why, could guess being around GREAT LEGENDS like his dad and Lewis while he was just among the good could have,....but hey I don't know that.

The Burrells are histories fastest father and son, both ran a sub 10,00, Both over 26 feet in the long jump only father and son there also.

Best of times....

Next week at the Prefontaine meet Sha Cari Richardson gets her shot at the three Jamaican 100m medalists. The track world is excited.

That track in Oregon the fastest in the world, do expect to see something special.

Sitting her down for a month over pot was stupid.

Great example of speed endurance there, notice how she looks to be pulling away, actually that is her holding on to her top end as the others begin to decellerate. Yep, an illusion.

3.Raheem Mostert Niners RB
4.D.K.Metcalf Seahawks WR
5.Tyreek Hill Chiefs WR

The mens and womens 400 hurdles were the Olympic highlights for me.

But this was next, she turned pro straight out of high school. A freak of nature!

Olympic 800m

Is she built to run or what?

Doping ruined track and field. Its not fun watching an event where you re never quite sure if the winner cheated.

It has certainly had that effect on me. I find that I cannot truly enjoy and appreciate great performances anymore because I am waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop. We have seen people test positive for banned substances YEARS after their events. It's extremely frustrating .. I am still looking side eyed at the Jamaicans. It's one thing for one runner to become a generational talent like Bolt did.. but for every sprinter they have to suddenly become better than everybody in the world? I hate that I think this way.. but that's what the doping has done to me.

It's1948-1952, Jamaica has the worlds three best 400m sprinters in George Rhoden, Herb McKenley and Arthur Wint and a stud 100/200 in Les Laing, McKenley also a 100/200 cat, wining an Olympic 100m silver.

They broke a handful of world records and won a slew of Olympic medals. Then here came Dennis Johnson in the 50's he ran the 9.3 world record 4 times, Lennox Miller showed up in the 60;s, winning Olympic medals in the 100, Right after him came Don Quarrie he won the Olympic 200 with a 100m silver.

Point....Jamaica has had sprinters for a long time. With most being US trained, All those guys above but Wint attended USA schools.

1951 400m world ranking

1951 1....................George Rhoden (Jamaica)
2.....................Herb McKenley (Jamaica)
3...........................Arthur Wint (Jamaica)
4................................. Mal Whitfield (US)
5................................Charlie Moore (US)
6.................................Dick Maiocco (US)
7..............Hans Geister (West Germany)
8............Schalk Booysen (South Africa)
9...Karl-Friedrich Haas (West Germany) 10...............................John Bradley (US)

Valid points.. but recall that the post WWII era was a time when the US was busy screwing with its black population and trying to rob them of opportunity at every turn. I would not be surprised if a lot of the best of the best didn't even bother to compete for not wanting to "represent" this country. Especially considering how shabbily they treated Jesse Owens after his amazing exploits. That probably included some of the Jamaican guys who probably could have represented the US if they wanted. Still I trust the integrity of those guys' accomplishments more than I do anything post 1990. Thank you very much Juan Tellez and Ben Johnson..

There were a lot of African American sprinters back in the days of Jesse Owens. Hell the 1932 Olympic 100m gold Eddie Tolan, the silver Ralph Metcalfe. Eulace Peacock a Temple sprinter/long jumper owned Owens at 100, had a 7-3 record, injuries cost him his 1936 Olympic shot. Then there was Colombia's Ben Johnson. Mack Robinson the older bro of Jackie was a stud winning that 1936 Olympic silver.

Never a time after 1930 where there was a shortage of stud African American sprinters. Forget the south, they had the Big10 and the Pac 8 and the HBCU.

The first WORLDS FASTEST MAN was Howard Drew an African American sprinter out of USC, injuries cost him his Olympic glory, talking 1912.
