A slow week one followed by a fairly dominant week two. So far in 2014, it’s been the same ole, same ole for Dez Bryant. Last year, Bryant started the year off slow versus the New York Giants and then burst onto the scene at Kansas City. This year was no different for Bryant. He had one of his most complete games as a football player on Sunday.

From blocking to the whistle on the edge, demanding double coverage all day long, and converting crucial third downs. Dez did it all on Sunday. Today we are going to look at Dez Bryant’s performance and also take a look at how Dallas has used him so far this season.
Initially, I thought it was going to be a long day for Bryant. Tennessee started the game off guarding Dez Bryant like he was a gunner on a punt coverage team. Take a look:

Luckily for Bryant, Dallas was able to run the ball effectively and it forced Tennessee to drop a safety in the box to help contain Murray. Like I did last week, I charted all of the routes Dez Bryant ran when he was targeted. You will notice that all of Bryant’s targets this week came within 20 yards of the line of scrimmage. Bryant was dominant in the short passing game Sunday and for good reason. The Tennessee cornerbacks tried to press Dez early and had zero success. There was one play where Jason McCourty tried to “jam” Bryant and came up grabbing air as Bryant made one of the prettiest moves you will ever see off the line of scrimmage. Bryant is too strong and quick to jam, forcing cornerbacks to play a ton of off coverage on him.
