Running with Hos' idea, If we can come up with a list of 20-30 players that people really like, I'll do an update every week on how they did, injuries, off-field issues, etc.

It'll be easy with offensive skill players since it'll mostly be stats and who they may have faced that has NFL potential ex. D. Jackson lining up against A. Cason.

It'll be a little harder with the OL so if anyone has an idea other than sacks allowed and maybe rushing yards, speak up.

Right now, I'm looking for nominations of who to include in the watch list.

You have to throw some QB's in there, incase Romo isn't the answer.

Erik Ainge - Tennessee
Brian Brohm - Louisville
Andre Woodson - Kentucky
Chad Henne - Michigan
John David Booty - USC

Also some other guys ...

Mario Urrutia (WR) - Louisville
Barry Richardson (OT) - Clemson
Michael Oher (OL) - Ole Miss
Jonathan Stewart (RB) - Oregon

I know we don't need LB's either, but Rey Maualuga (USC) is a guy I would love to have if Akin or Bradie continue to under peform.

I do not even want to sniff a LB. Enough of our resources have been put there already.

Not sure why you would say Akin under performed, I did not see that.
Plus we have Carpenter and Burnett waiting in the wings.

LBers not wanted.

Looks like pretty good list so far. We can add more once college season starts and other players spark our interest. Appreciate your willingness set up system to track these players.

Nah 'Bear, I usually track at least that many for myself.

I don't know if anyone's seen it but the NFLN ripped off our idea. Every Tuesday they're going to recap the performance of the top seniors.

The biggest help I'll need is tracking the minor off-field stuff. It's hard to hunt little local stories down and the nationals are often wrong or don't have the full story.

Ex. Justin King was arrested for being part of a brawl. That made the wires but the dismissal of charges because it turns out he was a peacemaker barely made a blip.

If I come across any such articles during the course of the season, I'll make sure to PM them to ya...

I need to find a site that list statistics for defensive players in the box score so if anyone knows one I'd appreciate it.

Here are the first stats for the season.

Week one

Ray Rice - 25/184/3 -2/21 rec--Buffalo's D is bad but showed explosiveness did bounce outside a little too much though
Doucet - 9/78/1 - 1/5 punt return--Miss. St. - Longest catch only 18 yds.
Brohm - 16/21 375 yds 4 TDs 0 INTS 1 yd rushing 1 TD-Murray St is terrible.
Dorsey - 1 sack for 11 yds
Ian Johnson -18/126/3 -1/11 rec -did not see game vs. Weber State.

My favorite QB - Insane stats and a real fun player to watch. He's got a Romo/Tark/Flutie style I can't quite explain. Won Payton award last year and was runner up year before.

08/31/07 - Junior RB Ray Rice finished with 184 yards in the 38-3 opening win over Buffalo, topping the century mark for the 16th time in his career. He now stands just 16 yards shy of the school's all-time rushing yardage record (Terrell Willis; 3,114) with 3,098 yards. With a 34-yard first-quarter TD run, Rice movedinto second place in the Rutgers career rushing record book (past JJ Jennings). Rice's three rushing touchdowns gives him 28 in his 26-game Rutgers career, putting him into a tie for fifth place (Harvey Grimsley,1946-49) on the school's all-time list. The three touchdowns tonight marked Rice's third career three-touchdown performance. He also achieved the feat at North Carolina (9/2/06) and at home against Howard (9/23/06). Rice's 78 first-quarter yards are the most for the junior running back in the opening quarter in his career. - Rutgers Sports

08/30/07 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: RB Ray Rice is the team's Heisman hopeful, and the key to the Scarlet Knights' offense. If he can pick up yards at the pace he did last season, it will give quarterback Mike Teel and the Rutgers air attack room to maneuver.

08/30/07 - Rice rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns, Underwood had 10 catches for a school-record 248 receiving yards and two TDs and Teel passed for a career-best 328 yards as the Scarlet Knights opened their most anticipated season with a 38-3 win over Buffalo on Thursday night. Coming off an 11-2 season and its first bowl victory, Rutgers gave the crowd of 43,091 -- the third largest at home in school history -- plenty to cheer about, scoring touchdowns on its first three series and rolling up 563 yards in total offense against a Buffalo team that won two games last season and is picked to finish around the bottom of the Mid-American Conference again this year. Rice, who rushed for 1,794 yards last season, scored 20 touchdowns and finished seventh in the Heisman voting, scored on runs 34, 12 and 41 yards. - AP Sports

08/26/07 - At 5-9 and 200 pounds, Rice still has that kind of debilitating effect on opposing teams. He rushed for 1,794 yards - second most in the country - and 20 touchdowns last year when the Scarlet Knights became one of sports' feel-good stories, finishing 11-2 and 12th in the country. Rice raced into the Heisman picture, finishing seventh in the balloting. Rutgers' campaign for Rice this year is well underway. The school launched the Web site SeeRayRun.com and sent out sets of binoculars to media members so they can get a closer look. Binoculars aren't needed to watch the promotional video Rutgers is airing in Times Square on a 1,000 square-foot screen more than a hundred times a day through October. Rice is the biggest name in Eastern college football. Given the fact there are so many legitimate Heisman candidates, if Rice goes off again and Rutgers has a huge season, the power of the influential New York media could help push him over the top. Rice got a taste of the Heisman four years ago when he was invited to the Heisman high school breakfast and got a chance to meet 2004 winner Matt Leinart of USC. He wears 27 because Eddie George, the 1995 winner from Ohio State, wore the same number and was his favorite player growing up. - Dick Weiss, New York Daily News

08/22/07 - 2007 Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List: Rice has been named a preseason All-American by several media outlets after a record-breaking sophomore campaign in 2006. Rice finished second nationally with 1,794 rushing yards last season en route to consensus second team All-America honors. The 1,794 yards. a school record, also established a new BIG EAST single-season record. Rice finished seventh in the voting for the Heisman Trophy and was also one of three finalists for the Maxwell Award. - Rutgers Sports

Mario Manningham 4/69

Justin King - 1 FR O completions allowed
Steve Slaton - 16/108/3 - 2/61/1 rec with a 50 yd TD

I'm adding inside the quote because someone had to spam after the intial post and I'd like to keep all the into together.

Frank Okam had a really good game for UT, even if it was against inferior talent. He had 5 TT, 2.5 TFL, 1.5 Sacks, and 1 Pass Break-up. He would look really nice in the middle of our DL.

The Amazing Ricky Santos, QB UNH

It's halftime and they are up 17-10 against James Madison. Having lost David Ball and a few other receivers I was concerned how Santos would respond.

At half today he is 17-20-137 and 2 td's. This kid is amazing and last pass was a rocket TD inside the 5 for a TD. His 101st career TD and he still has his Senior season to add on that.

He's clearly a WCO prospect that may like Romo with some time have a starting NFL grade. Commentators noting he may be the most accurate QB he has ever seen. Its amazing to watch this kid.

It's on CN8 local cable in New England but probably but a national feed. I have been calling this kid 4 four years running. And he did win Payton award last year. Special player and all sorts of fun to watch.

Yes - they dominated second half and took it to UNH.

UNH defense was their downfall last year as well.

Other than those picks, seems you're right about his accuracy.

Rascati? Yeah, some think so...especially silverbear. I'll have to go to the next home game to check him out. I wasn't all that impressed when I watched him last year.
