Tradable commodities?

I admit as a Cowboys fan to often overvaluing our team's players, but might this actually be a year in which we have enough talent to trade a few players away for low round or conditional draft picks?

It looks as though we might have a surplus at receiver, interior offensive line, cornerback, and possibly linebacker.

Maybe a player like Devin Smith, or Adam Redmond? Or a backer like March?

Does anyone think that we might be able to turn roster churn into any future draft capital?

Every year I get my hopes up on this and every year other teams just wait out the cuts to get the player for free.

But this year you really could see a conditional 7th coming back for guys like Joe Jackson, Chris Westry, even Adam Redmond.

If we do get a pick back, the WR position is interesting because they might be able to get a pick back for a guy like Noah Brown to keep Aaron Parker or Jon'Vea Johnson.

Supposedly, a few teams have inquired about Redmond in the past year. He provides position flex along the interior, and I want to say I read last week that he can play outside too.

this. Teams are desperate for lineman

I'm guilty of the same. I always think that we have someone we can trade rather than cut outright.

I will be surprised if we get anything. As @stasheroo mentioned, we tend to over rate players for trade options. I has not happened in years. We made a few trades out of necessities, to get a player. But we never get a draft pick for any players. I can't remember when it happened last.

Some of the names mentioned already, maybe. But also teams will keep their own vet players. See who is released then go from there. Make moves more so based on injuries.

QB's, none, unless an injury happens and someone calls about Dalton, RB's, none, FB's, none, TE's, none
WR's, maybe Brown, don't see Johnson, possibly Smith? outside chance but doubt it. Bryant, do not see it either.
OL, as mentioned, possibly Redmond, but he may make the 53. If so, Erving, Miller, but doubt, same for Hyatt, can't see anyone else.
LB's, they only have 7 on the roster, so March or Gifford the only possibilities, and don't see anyone trading for them. Unless March for ST's

DL, this could be interesting, especially if Gregory is reinstated.
Jackson, though I do not see it, Woods, but doubt it, Hill, possibly but I think they give Hill a chance to play, see what he does.

DB, Lewis, Goodwin, Savion Smith, about the only ones that jump out, maybe Thompson but a team would need to do so from injuries or ST's.

So overall I don't see very many at all to even get a 6th or 7th pick, unless, as I said, it is because of another team needs from injuries.

Like the Bengals are hurting on defense from injuries. Maybe they come calling.

I would be more concerned about the 53 and the 45 that dress than tradable commodities. This was and is an 8-8 team until proven otherwise. To have trade commodities, a team must have depth.

If that 3rd day draft capital was that valuable, the Cowboys wouldn't have such crappy ST's.

The real draft capital on this team is either Cooper, Gallup or Lamb. If Pollard shows something, I would add Elliott to that.

Notable players in last year of their deals:
Lewis, Awuzie, Woods, Crawford, and Antwaun Woods.

But my preferred players to trade away would be Lewis(because I think he has more value than Awuzie oddly enough), Armstrong, Zeke, and possibly Jaylon.

When is the last time GM Jerry traded a Cowboys player for a 1st round pick?

We've traded a 1st round pick on drat day to a QB-needy team (Bills with JP Losman, Browns with Brady Quinn), but I can't recall if Jerry has ever traded a player Dallas developed and received a high draft pick for him. We usually overpay our own guys and then have to cut them to get out of their contracts, even though they still have value around the league (Demarcus Ware, Terrence Newman, etc.)

I've always been against trading.

One of the rules to trading is are you getting value in return?

In a perfect world you would like equal or more value but that's not always the case. So when it comes to trading a guy like Jourdan Lewis? You offer me a 3rd sure I'd trade him. But if its a 6th round pick I'm sorry but I'd rather keep Lewis.

Its easier to trade when you don't plan on contending. But this team is always contending whether they are wrong or not so it makes offseason trades a bit more difficult.
