Tradable commodities?

But this year you really could see a conditional 7th coming back for guys like Joe Jackson, Chris Westry, even Adam Redmond.

If we do get a pick back, the WR position is interesting because they might be able to get a pick back for a guy like Noah Brown to keep Aaron Parker or Jon'Vea Johnson.

I doubt anyone is eager to trade for Brown.

Maybe DE, but not if we're keeping 6.

The Cowboys have a ton of tradeable assets, they just shouldn't trade any of them.

Bottom roster buys - except maybe Redmond - aren't going to get you anything to make it worthwhile.

I admit as a Cowboys fan to often overvaluing our team's players, but might this actually be a year in which we have enough talent to trade a few players away for low round or conditional draft picks?

It looks as though we might have a surplus at receiver, interior offensive line, cornerback, and possibly linebacker.

Maybe a player like Devin Smith, or Adam Redmond? Or a backer like March?

Does anyone think that we might be able to turn roster churn into any future draft capital?

In any regular year , absolutely...................In this mess known as Covid 2020 , I just don't see that happening.........................

Maybe Smith. But SB teams need depth to absorb injuries so I'd only make a trade if we have to. Wouldn't you want Smith trying for a bigger role if coop goes down? Same if Williams or Looney get hurt, won't we need Redmond even if he backs up McGovern?

Yes at the start of TC's I always thought this too. This season I went into it, thinking, no, it never happens, so have not got any hopes up for any trades.
I am clueless how you guys even think somehow trades would happen.

How do we even know somebody is any good?

There are no games.

No preseason. I see snips of video but who are they?

When they were in Oxnard, sure. There was plenty of coverage..Games.

Now? The Star is locked down like a bunker. The team is running around with no identifying names or numbers to keep any track.

To hear it from Big Mike and Jerrah, we are trying to prevent other teams from pouching our players we want to keep at cutdowns.

So everything is going to ground to do it.

I have no clue how any team would even know who to pursue.

D-line is the only spot. Antwon Woods, Dorance Armstrong, or Joe Jackson’s could maybe be be flipped for a late pick and its off the back of 2019 footage.

that is what I meant, this year I have no hope of any trade nor think any happens.

Trade Ced Wilson or Brown. We have a wealth of talent at wr and nowhere to play these guys.

Injuries and covid tell me to avoid draft lottery picks at all costs. There has been no football, I wouldn't be shocked if the first few weeks have a higher % of injuries than past years, just because there were zero games.

Smith is probably going to get cut. The most we could get for him if we traded him is a conditional 8th rounder

Those guys are both fringe roster players. We don't have a wealth of talent at WR. Beyond the top 3, we are actually very thin. Most other teams, Wilson or Brown dont make the final roster

Would not trade our depth for low round draft capital. We need our depth for injuries or covid. But I would definitely do player for player deals to get depth at other areas of need.

There's a couple of things here. First it never fails that when the Cowboys get some depth at positions fans start the can't we trade some of that depth. Something every team tries to get as much depth in as many positions they can yet some fans want to try to trade some of it away when they finally get it.

Second when this happens I remember something Gil Brandt said one time. Now you did say that you often over rate Cowboys but this is what Brandt said.

There are 4 different values for every player.

1) The value a team places on one of their players and what the least they would take in trade for that player.
2) The value the other 31 teams places on that player and the most they would give up for that player.
3) The value fans of that team have for that player and what they think that player would get in a trade.
4) The value fans of that team think a player on another team can be gotten for

Brandt then went on to say that numbers 3 and 4 are seldom if ever the same as numbers 1 and 2. He also said that number 3 is almost always higher than his actual value and number 4 is almost always lower than his actual value.

It was only the Cowboys Night where the players had no name or numbers because the entire practice was being televised and all other 31 teams could watch an entire practice where normally only the media is allowed for just a very short time to start practices. I understand why they did it and it made sense however if there was a regular preseason those other 31 teams would have film on those players anyways.

I would 100% NOT do this, but if the team really wanted to capture draft capital, they could trade Michael Gallup. He might fetch a first rounder+, as he is an ascending player. The Cowboys are deep at WR, and might not be able to keep their 3 top guys long term. In a year or two, Gallup might command/demand more money than the team could justify. Again- not recommending this.

I hope the Cowboys are scouting other teams like crazy. There will be some good players released this year with no pre-season games for evaluation.

I've always been against trading.

One of the rules to trading is are you getting value in return?
I think the OP is talking about trading player that are about to get cut. Not players the Cowboys are interested in keeping.

It's the Cowboys were automatically better than we are every single year, hopefully a new coach can actually validate that claim for once.

Trades in the NFL are pretty rare. Occasionally you get a blockbuster. I am always struck by the value assigned especially to aging veterans. The guys we are talking about trading here yield 7th or maybe 6th rounders. I seriously doubt Woods gets you anything. Lewis and Chido maybe a 4. Why would anyone want to trade young corners? I am hoping they lock Lewis up. Chido I would trade for a bag of chips and a half can of Coke.
I am rambling but my main points are you seldom get the value you deserve and some of our guys would be worth nothing.

If a guy Like Fournette gets outright cut I mean someone wouldn't give a 7th for him? well those guys you listed couldn't carry Fournettes jock and well if he cant get trade, the league knows who might be cut and wont waste pick for them..

As fans ..

we are pretty much Fantasy League.

I expect no trades on our part. I hardly expect us to even win this year.

No practices, lockdowns no fans at games.

Nope..no expectations about Big Mike recapturing his magic for us.

Believe it when I see it. Maybe next year after we see the damage left from all the things going down.
