Tradable commodities?

If a guy Like Fournette gets outright cut I mean someone wouldn't give a 7th for him? well those guys you listed couldn't carry Fournettes jock and well if he cant get trade, the league knows who might be cut and wont waste pick for them..

I think there were other circumstances with Fournette as well.

I admit as a Cowboys fan to often overvaluing our team's players, but might this actually be a year in which we have enough talent to trade a few players away for low round or conditional draft picks?

It looks as though we might have a surplus at receiver, interior offensive line, cornerback, and possibly linebacker.

Maybe a player like Devin Smith, or Adam Redmond? Or a backer like March?

Does anyone think that we might be able to turn roster churn into any future draft capital?
I think it would be tough, but maybe a slight chance to get a 7th rounder in a case or two.

That was my thinking, better than cutting some of these guys outright with nothing in return. A few years ago, they were surprisingly able to do that and I'm wondering if they might be able to again? A guy like Devin Smith was a 2nd round pick at one point.

Teams are just in shock right now.

They just are cutting losses with guys like Fournette.

I think most teams internally have written off this year economically and are going to put up a show to meet expectations as best they can.

When all is said and done..this season will be remembered as the Strike Season years ago was. Nothing will be valid and everything will be astericked as not to be meaningful due to the circumstances.

I think Fournette was a special circumstance rather than part of something that is going on around the league.

I would be more concerned about the 53 and the 45 that dress than tradable commodities. This was and is an 8-8 team until proven otherwise. To have trade commodities, a team must have depth.

If that 3rd day draft capital was that valuable, the Cowboys wouldn't have such crappy ST's.

The real draft capital on this team is either Cooper, Gallup or Lamb. If Pollard shows something, I would add Elliott to that.
Coop is a hired hand. Love him, but if someone comes calling and is willing to give up a serious pick and take him off our books, I would seriously consider it. The future is Lamb and Gallup.

I would've traded Coop straight up for Jamal Adams, but I doubt the Jets would've complied.

When is the last time GM Jerry traded a Cowboys player for a 1st round pick?

We've traded a 1st round pick on drat day to a QB-needy team (Bills with JP Losman, Browns with Brady Quinn), but I can't recall if Jerry has ever traded a player Dallas developed and received a high draft pick for him. We usually overpay our own guys and then have to cut them to get out of their contracts, even though they still have value around the league (Demarcus Ware, Terrence Newman, etc.)

Not since Jimmy.

Which was over 2 decades ago.

It's not about that. It's his contract. If you trade for a player, you also get the contract.

1 yr 4 million with one yer option for a RB like fournette is cheap, he had solid season... elite backs are getting 10-13 second tier 6-8 mil so put that in perspective , he had like nearly 1200yards been hard to stay helathy like Cooks etc

hes not worth 4mil? hes actually in 100X better situation now and most likely best times ahead for him now with the Bucs..glad he didnt end up in the east where he would have done damage..keep an eye on him 4mil is steal , many worse backs are higher paid..
