Assumption #1: With the general consensus of this being a deep but not top heavy draft a trade back from the #4 spot seems to make sense.
Assumption #2: Denver is looking like they will strike out on the impact FA QB's leaving them stuck with Mark Sanchez (eek!).

Given the 2 assumptions do you guys think a trade back down to the bottom of RD1 make sense for both teams? Dallas can accumulate draft picks this year (and next) to continue to build the roster through multiple 1st through 3rd rd picks. Denver can have their choosing of impact QB's Carson Wentz (if available) or Jared Goff (most pro-ready) that they would not have a chance at pick 32. Regardless if you think this is a good or bad idea, what would such a trade look like?

Trading back is for losers! Losers like guys like this that take off their socks using guns.

Quality over quantity. Trading back is going to lesson the quality of the talent unless someone idiot team lets you rip them off. That doesn't happen very often.

If Wentz or Geoffrey aren't good enough for Dallas, why would Denver want them?

It's not that Wentz or Goff isn't good enough for Dallas. Dallas still has Romo and from all indication they believe they will have Romo for at minimum this upcoming year and probably the next 3-4 years. I'm personally not sure about that but that is from the Dallas FO perspective. What is Denver's alternative?

Or the reverse, if Denver wants to climb all the way from 31 to 4 to pick Goff or Wentz, then shouldn't the clueless Cowboys reconsider giving up a potential franchise quarterback?

That's way, WAY too far of a trade down for my liking

We should take of advantage of a rare opportunity to draft in top 1/3 of the draft.
I'm not opposed to trading down a little bit (because each slot that high has so much value, you can land an extra 2nd without losing out on top caliber talent), but not anywhere outside the top 1/3 or , at worst, 1/2 of the draft.

But you asked about what it would look like to swap #4 for #31

Dallas would get 31 and then also most likely Denver's 2nd, 3rd and next years 1st and 2nd...maybe even more.
So we would rack up. I guess if you thought Denver would fall off a cliff and be terrible this year, then that 1st rounder next year would be much more valuable than it is today.
I still wouldn't do it.
