With the recent news from Sodogo that we are considering trading down I decided to give my best shot at a mock involving a trade back.
In this instance I will say the Rams use their plethora of picks to move back up into the 1st round to select an offensive lineman at 14. We receive picks # 33, 38 and 96 in exchange for our 14th pick.
I'm only going to mock Rounds 1-5 but here ya go.....
Pick #33- Mark Barron S 'Bama- He becomes a good value this late dropping because of the sports hernia. He should be more than ok by training camp and starts week 1. An instant upgrade over Abe Elam or really anything we've had at S in a long time.
Pick #38- Andre Branch DE/OLB Clemson- Very impressive senior year in the ACC and was also very impressive at the combine. Maybe not be able to play every down as an OLB, but he would be great paired with Spencer as a pass rush specialist.
Pick #45- Jayron Hosely CB Va Tech- Rob Ryan said his #1 off season priority was to upgrade the secondary and Hosely gives him another option. Very athletic and has great ball skills. A defensive playmaker.
Pick #82- Brandon Washington OG Miami- Big tough OG that can play right away. He'd probably be a 2nd round pick if he wasnt forced to play LT last year because of injuries to Miami's o-line. Would be an upgrade to any OG currently on our roster in my opinion.
Pick #96- Michael Egnew TE Mizzu- Fits the mold of the new athletic TE in the NFL. Fills the gap left by Bennett nicely.
Pick #113- Akiem Hicks DE/DT Regina- Huge and gifted athlete. Looks and moves like a 1st round DT, but lack of experience and competition drop him further into the draft. Hes a big ?, but he has all the tools to be a good NFL player.
Pick #144- Jerry Franklin ILB Arkansas- Tough hardnosed ILB. Sure tackler and knows how to diagnose plays. Isnt the flashiest guy which is why he lands in the 5th round, but he could be a useful platoon play right away if you ask me.
