How would people feel about a trade down with the Bears, who move up for a QB.

Dallas trade #4 for:

11, 42 and 106

or 11, 2017 #1 and a 5th rounder

What would be your ideal and realistic trade down scenario?

I like any trade down scenario that nets us a 2nd and 3rd rd pick as long as we drop no farther than 16.

I agree that the talent tier starts to drop around 14. I think if Goff is there he will be the pick, but I don't think he will be there. After that I don't see any one guy standing out far above the others when there are as many holes to fill as Dallas has. This also works in letting you draft a guy like Wentz to develop later in the draft and not overpaying at the top of the draft.

Dallas wont be picking Wentz in the teens but I agree the talent drops off in the teens. Guys that might be there at 16 that could be the pick if we were to find this type of trade down. A'Shawn Robinson, Zeke, Mackenzie Alexander, Reggie Ragland, Nkemdiche, Shaq Lawson. Maybe even Hargreaves III.

Even Derron Lee would not surprise me. They loved Shazier a couple of years ago and Lee is said to resemble him a lot.

I was thinking more of Wentz in the 2nd round. I would use #11 on someone who can contribute this year like the guys you mentioned.

What's it going to be then, eh?

If Wentz blows up at the Senior Bowl like Rivers did, he could be a first round type.

Like the trade down scenario as long as the Cowboys get their QB they want.....if Lynch or Goff are there and thats their target then do it...

I would even look at making a trade with the Rams at 15 if the price was right....

I don't think you want to be getting to cute. Why take lesser value you player at 11 when you can take a higher value at the 4? I understand it looks good to get a bunch of 2nd rounders but the further you get away from the first round the harder it is.

I hear what you are saying, but at least early on, I am getting the sense that there is no Leonard Williams/Aaron Donald or that type of player that people are sold on at #4 other than maybe Goff. I'm not sure if it's a weak draft class or if there has just not been enough scouting done yet to get a clear picture on the top 10 guys. So if you don't want Bosa, Lynch, Hargreaves, Treadwell, etc.. at #4, what is the best thing to do? There are a bunch of LB's in the 10-15 range, etc..

I'm hoping someone jumps out with more review and coverage, because it's pretty odd that the draft would not be at least 4 deep in blue chip prospects. I think it's more likely that someone may want to trade up for Lynch, Bosa or an OT and there will be an opportunity there to get an additional high pick and still gets 2 players that can contribute right away instead of 1.

So are we convinced that Bosa goes before 4? It's a high possibility I'm sure but how high?

Bosa very well might be there at 4.

Ten is likely to take Tunsil OT
Cle QB Goff or Lynch
SD wildcard. Could trade out for a QB hungry team. Could take Treadwell, Ramsey, Stanley or Bosa.

I don't know where I would put the odds that Bosa is there at 4 but it could definitely happen.

Yeah I think its either the Titans or the Chargers that may take him. Chargers could go anywhere. I think the Chargers are like us. They may invest in a QB but not in the 1st round yet. I could also see them wanting to get Rivers some weapons.

Depends on our board and what we think the talent level is this year. Would we get elite talent at 11 or have to settle for a good player? Those kind of things.

I think you'd have to drop much further than 11 to pick up a #1 next year.

As an example, when Atlanta traded up with Cleveland in 2011, that was Atlanta's 1/27th + a future 1st for Cleveland's RD1/6.

In 2009, NY Jets traded from 17 to 5 (Cleveland) and the cost was an additional 2nd in the same draft.

There's always that Washington / St Louis trade in 2012 for RGIII (RD1/2 for RD1/6 + RD2/39 + 1sts in 2013 and 2014) people pull up, but I think few teams are as stupid as Washington. They're an outlier. Things can change when QBs are involved, but I think reality is it will be a bigger drop than I'd be willing to take for an unknown present and future pick. Most likely, stay in top 10 (maybe down to 8) and pick up an early 2nd.

My ideal trade down might be with the Jets, where they give up RD1/20, QB-Bryce Petty, the rights to DT-Muhammed Wilkerson (who they likely franchise) or Sheldon Richardson, and maybe a future day 2 pick. If we want the 1st instead, the player might be more like ILB-David Harris or NB-Buster Skrine. The Bills at 19 or Houston at 22 might be a similar partner.

Then at 20, a CB, S, or WR might be more palatable than taking one 4th overall. At least here we're getting a sure thing in Wilkerson for trading down so much, and a QB prospect that I like more than Carson Wentz. Petty was also one of the prospects who we brought in for an official visit, so we likely had high regard for him.

Buffalo gave up a first for Sammy Watkins and they were already in the top 10
