Trade 81 for Earl Thomas, then package 19 & 50 to go get Derwin James. Watching day two of the draft will suck, but both are well worth those picks. We’ll have the best secondary in the NFL with Kris Richard coaching them up.

LCB - Byron Jones
NCB - Jourdan Lewis
RCB - Chidobe Awuzie
FS - Earl Thomas
SS - Derwin James

That would be nasty! Make it happen.

I would do it. Still have 2 4ths, 2 5ths, 2 6ths, a 7th and Free agency.

In order to do this though you will have to get rid of some dead weight on the roster to get some cap space to sign some F'A's.

Convince Dez to take a pay cut.

Cut Hanna, Mayowa, Beasley, and Dan Bailey. I know people will find that last one controversial but Bailey is not worth his cap hit and a kicker can be had for league minimum.

Sign a starting G in F.A. Replace beasley and butler in the draft easy enough with 2 4th rd picks. Get a run stuffing LB in the 5th easy enough. Get a 1 tech in the 5th easy enough. Heck you can even draft a kicker if you need to. Probably can get the number one kicker in college football for a 6th rd pick.

Don’t forget flipping Xavier Woods for a high 2nd.

And the middle of our defense would still be terrible. Those 2 talented safeties would be used primarily for making tackles 10 yards down the field on running plays

If they actually get Earl Thomas at FS there is no need to push for Derwin James and forget about the rest of the roster. Just grab a SS in the second, Harrison, White, Allen or Blanding would all be great choices. Then you can get your dominant run stopping DT in the first or Vander Esch. I just don't like a trade up that costs us a second round pick with all the holes this team has.

Or

Trade #3 or 4 for Thomas
Sign Williamson or Bowman in FA to be MLB
Trade up to take Vea or Take Settle in rd 2

And field a great defense (not just a great secondary)

Just a thought

It looks good in a vacuum but a vacuum is exactly what you leave in the middle of the defense; if this is the plan I hope we would have a plan to spend on DT and MLB in FA. Poe or Logan and someone like derrick Johnson as a stopgap for not grabbing a MLB early.

welp this isn't going to happen now....there is an article on nfl.com that says the Seahawks are going to keep Thomas and try to sign him to an extension and try to trade Bennett before March 14.

In this hypothetical fantasy world. I'd aim to do something like the following

LDE: Lawrence 3T: Irving 1T: Collins RDE: Taco
MIKE: Smith WILL: Lee
LCB: Awuzie SCB: Brown RCB: Lewis
SS: James FS: Thomas
DE cover: C.Tapper, T.Crawford
DT cover: B.Price, 4th round 3T
LB cover: 3rd round pick, D.Wilson, 2 x 5th round pick
safety cover: Heath, X.Woods
CB cover: B.Jones D.Thomas

Wouldn't be entirely happy with the DT and LB situation but that's one heck of a defense. Realistically we'd have to give up our 2019 2nd to get Thomas maybe getting a later pick back. And we'd likely have to trade Scandrick and get Dez to take a pay cut in order to find the cap space. That's all stuff I'd be willing to do but I don't really see it happening.

Worst thing you could possibly do. This team needs front 7 especially a force at MLB. If the Giants get Barkley we won't even be able to get the defense of the field. More importantly or the MOST important reason not to get Thomas and or James is our coaching staff is a joke. They would play these two guys 20 yards off the ball and their talents would be completely WASTED here.

It’s certainly a good secondary on paper.
I do have some questions-
1. Why is Sea so interested in getting rid of Earl Thomas?
2. Is Thomas an injury risk? (He’s missed 7 reg season games the last two years)
3. What is Thomas’ contract situation including remaining years?

Thomas has had one major injury which was pretty bad. Think it was broken tibia or fibula. One of the lower leg bones. Other than that, I think a hamstring injury coming back from the broken leg but he’s not injury prone.

Think he has 1 yr at 10m left

One reason I asked about his injury situation is I noticed he hasn’t played a full season since 2015.
