Trade ideas for today

So, with today being June 1 and with the Myles Garrett trade happening, this is a good time for some trade ideas for today. I think the first challenge is to find players that have trade value. YES, this will be a lot of fishing for options and YES, there will be some fishing attempts for scraps we have. But, worst thing that can happen is that another team would say no, so let's have some fun with this. Let's be honest, we are in THAT part of the offseason.

  • Try to trade Bell for a 6 or 7 round pick - he probably won't make the team. Especially since we have a rare surplus and bottleneck in talent at safety. We got him undrafted anyway. So, a 6 or 7 round pick would be a good return for him.
  • Overshown - let's be honest, that was a devastating injury he had. Maybe we could trade him for a mid round pick? We actually might have some decent talent around him to where it wouldn't hurt that much to trade him away.
  • Using a 6th round pick for a player like Kiko Mauigoa - if we have a late round pick like a 6th round pick (perhaps possibly if we get one from Overshown or Bell), maybe we can use one for Kiko Mauigoa. I remember when we used one in 2019 for Robert Quinn, and maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to do that again? Chances are, it nets us a higher comp pick should Mauigoa leave in FA.
  • Bland for a pick? - while I think Bland can be a pick 6 magnet again with the dline I think we are developing, id be curious what we could get for him. If we can get a 2 or 3 for him, perhaps we could move him, especially with Durant, Revel, and Moore on the roster? And maybe we can flip that pick for a top LB as well? Either way, might be worth exploring.
  • Sam Williams - let's be honest, this is another fishing expedition for me. But, hey, maybe a team bites for a 6 for him? While he is good for an idiotic play or two in a season, he's also good for a few good plays in a season. And he's cheap. So, maybe we can get a 6 for him?
  • Spann-Ford for a player?- this is a definite fishing expedition, but maybe we could flip Spann-Ford for a player like Mauigoa? They could use a TE, and we could use Mauigoa at LB. Plus, between Gant, Ferguson, and Schoonmaker, maybe we have sufficient at TE. Plus, I'm intrigued by Trigg at TE. Maybe moving Spann-Ford would open up space for Trigg.
Please feel free to share any fishing expeditions you might think of?

If we make a trade between now and the start of the season, it will probably be a swap or 2028 pick. I dont think we will send players out until after preseason.

I think a pass rushing 3T is a need people dont talk about. We dont have any depth as far as passing down players. We are on track to have to play Williams and Clark an unsustainable amount of downs.

A few guys that could be had for light draft comp are Tershawn Wharton, Daquan Jones and Jer'Zahn Newton

Perhaps, but I could also see us offloading players whose chances to make the team are slim and we might be able to get a draft pick for them instead of outright cutting them.

We dont really have those guys though. Players like Bell, Schoonmaker and Williams are guys teams arent going to give up picks for. Spann-Ford is going to have a role and they arent going to trade him

Perhaps, I think Bell might be. We maybe can get something for Overshown.

To be honest, I don't think we could get anything more than a 5lb bag of lead sinkers for these guys.

I don't really mind some of the logic I just don't think these trades are realistic. I don't know why a team would bother to trade for Bell or Williams. There's 500 guys just like them.

Agreed - DT remains a massive gap. Wharton and Jones I don't think are 3T rushers. Newton would be great but I don't think he'd be cheap.

Jones, regardless of his rush ability, is a UFA. I've said a few times that they should sign him. He's not dependable but is still a force when he's healthy.

Maliek Collins is a pending UFA who can still rush. If Cleveland stinks, I think a lot of teams would have interest him at the deadline.

Fair, and maybe it isn't. Still, maybe there are other players we have that are tradable for picks. Honestly, I wonder if the Jets would take Overshown for Mauigoa straight up?

Independent of which player is better...

That makes no sense for the Jets b/c Overshown is on an expiring contract and Mauigoa is on his rookie deal.

We really dont have expendable players that have tradr value. We arent a deep team and they players on the fringes dont have trade. Most of the players we have on the fringes will have a hard time finding a spot as FA's when and if we cut them. This is a team that has won 14 games in the last two seasons

That's fair. Just trying to someone we can trade for like how we got Robert Quinn for a 6. If we can do something like that, we can shore up our linebacker position nicely.
We were able to do that trade because the Dolphins really needed to shed salary. If you want to make a move like that, you have to be willing to take a large salary on. Dont know how willing the Cowboys are to do that right now

That's true. I think we have salary cap to give, but not sure how much. The way I see it is maybe a 6th round pick (kinda like with Quinn) can be used to upgrade to a higher comp pick. That's kinda the idea I was trying to go for.
