Deal 1: With NE looking over our LB's (Scott Shanle most likely) I think we could improve ourselves by asking for Russ Hochstein in return. IF BP is comfortable starting Gurode at center, Hochstein offers position flexibility over Johnson in that he has experience at both guard and center.

Deal 2: If that deal was made, we may then have a ready suitor for Al Johnson in Cleveland. From PFT:

"KARMA KILLING THE BROWNS CENTERS?

Another week, another Browns center bites the dust.

First, it was LeCharles Bentley, the centerpiece of the team's big-spending free-agent class. Bently popped a patella tendon on the very first play of 11-on-11 drills.

Then, Bob Hallen up and quit.

Now, No. 1 guy (by default) Alonzo Ephraim reportedly will be suspended four games for violation of the league's substance abuse policy."

If Al is not going to be the long term solution at center (he's on the last year of his rookie deal) why not move him now for a 4th or 5th rounder? Cleveland's got to be pretty desperate right now.

If I have heard correctly the pats are worried about the health of their starting center so I am not sure they would want someone heading out who could also backup at center.

I think Dallas should wait a while before making any moves. First, depth now may be gone after the next pre-season game; second, the Vikes are really hurting at LB as well and could have more to offer than just a bubble OL; third, the Cowboys need to find a player(s) who can contribute, not just ride-the-pine all year

Contribute? We'd have to be pretty lucky to get that sort of player for a guy like Shanle.

True. Actually Johnson for Hochstein straight up and Shanle for Gorin might make more sense.

The Browns are also toying with the idea of putting Joe Andruzzi at center.

we play a whole bunch of 4-3 teams this year. groude is better against 3-4 teams because he is stronger. Johnson is more mobile and he is smarter and more focused. Don't be fooled by Groude getting a lot of the snaps in practice. Johnson is the starter.

Now I don't mind getting another G/C don't get me wrong. because neither proctor nor peterman make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I didn't think about that.....shanle would be a good fit for them.....hmmmm

I believe we should trade for OL help....fast so the new player can learn our offense

Boy i think this trade speculation is getting blown way out of proportion. I do not think we will see anything other than dime-a-dozen pine riders getting swapped.
