Bleacher Report NFL analyst Brad Gagnon believes that the NFC East franchise needs to consider trading star linebacker Jaylon Smith.

Smith, 26, had a pretty disappointing 2020 season. He was a Pro Bowl player in 2019 after signing a five-year, $64 million contract extension. However, he took a step back in performance in 2020 – along with most of the defense.

The Cowboys need him to bounce back in 2021, though Bleacher Report believes a trade should be considered.

Vander Esch is inexpensive and the 25-year-old still has a pretty high ceiling. Smith, though, will become increasingly expensive in the years to come, and they can save $7.2 million by trading him now to make room for Parsons, Vander Esch and Neal at that level.

It’s not a bad idea. He is paid a lot, but youve also already drafted his replacement. In the event LVE and Jaylon stay healthy in August, Quinn isn’t going to bench his incumbent, veteran pro bowl linebackers, at least not until he has no choice.

And I don’t believe part time players win DMVP awards

Maybe try trading him to Houston, they don’t seem to understand the value of draft picks.

Bleacher Report has been getting worse and worse.
I seen several articles recently about trades and players should be released and such lately.
The articles are just as bad as some threads on here. :lmao2: Not this thread though.

Also they have, I think it is them, I did not click to read. A bunch of trade scenarios the Mavericks should do.

So if his season was that bad, who would trade for him and give up what Jerry thinks he is worth.
Jaylon is here for this season.

They do make the allowance this trade might not happen before the season starts. In other words, we need to find a team injured, down and out, and in need of his services.

...that's a tuffy. Depending how he does in 21', that will make it or break it. I still think signing Jaylon was getting back at Zeke for holding out..lol.. It was weird timing.

Did this article actually refer Jaylon as a "star linebacker?"

Per the article. Anytime I post an article, I bring enough over to allow everyone to see what it says. And post the link so they can see it for themselves.
The only omitted section is where they claim LVE had his fifth year option picked up. Last I heard he hadn't. That was omitted so nobody would look like an idiot.

Ask yourselves this question: would you trade to acquire Jaylon and his contract?

Bradlee Anae is the second best DE on this roster.
