Now that Dak is signed, trade Lance to a QB starved team and at least recoup the draft capital we spent acquiring him.
Best bet is to develop him and hope you get something for him but at his salary and throwing 5 picks in a preseason game? You probably would have to trade a draft pick to unload him.

Who are you trading Lance to at this point? You wont get anything for a 3rd string QB on a expiring deal and the team doesnt get a full offseason to work with him....especially at his salary.

With Dak resigning it just confirms every Jerry wasted a 4th round pick post since this trade happened.

It’s quite obvious now it looked like a bargaining tool against Dak. Once they watched PS they had no choice but to sign Dak.

He has no value lol.

He looks lost in a system that he's been in practice for over a year.
If traded, he has to learn a new playbook and timing with receivers.
Even without his contract I don’t think there’s a market. Doesn’t hurt to look but he’s gonna play out and be gone next year where someone will sign him cheap and see if they can do anything with him

And we can get a decent comp pick for him. Because the contract he gets won't be cheap. He will get paid on potential.

The trade was stupid in the first place.

Now he has not only lost any value he had. He is taking up a big cap number this season that could have been used to secure a RB in free agency.

Lance needs playing time , he’s only 24 and has had very limited game time…he’s just a wild card at this point so if they could get a fifth or better they should do it…otherwise hold on to him

Agreed.

But our only hope is that a team out there will do the same thing Jerry did:

Take a risk on hitting the lottery and seeing a former first rounder develop.

Agreed. The market is not favorable— but injury situations and teams with aging QBs might be willing to consider.

Trey Lance needs a position change, TE maybe. He’s big and with his speed he could be another weapon. He’s as ready to be a QB as he is TE.
