What’s your opinion?
Trade your first round pick , for someone, you already know that’s good . And will help you right away.
Or simply build through the draft
I think it’s a fix it now , or fix it later.

In my opinion you keep your top picks (R1-3). If you have a good scouting department you will get good players (maybe great) at a lower cost enabling you to pay the studs on your team

You always trade your first round pick if the player in question meets three qualifications:

1. They are unanimously worth as much or more than a 1st round pick

2. They are a position of need and you can clearly see how they will upgrade your team before you even trade for them.

3. You have enough cap space to give them a massive longterm extension.

Tyreek Hill is giving Miami more than their first round pick ever would have. Davante Adams, Roquan Smith… even Laremy Tunsil in Houston is paying off despite trading multiple 1’s for him.

But the problem is how rare these players are to be available and which ones specifically fit Dallas. I don’t think you’re getting full value out of a WR in this offense like you did with Amari. You can trade for one, but a first rounder might be extreme for the ROI already having Lamb. You don’t need a premier DE just to give Demarcus less snaps, or a RB if you think your run blocking is the real problem. At least not with a pick that premium. Dallas has missing pieces, but not holes that large.

Cowboys believe in building the team through the draft.

If you can add pieces with late picks like they did last year they will.
this is starting to get old i'm sorry, there comes a time where you have to be aggressive

Cowboys are the best drafting team in the NFL it's a no-brainer to keep the picks and build through the draft

Keep first two picks…..unless a game changer becomes available I’ll trade one of them but I don’t believe in the Rams formula of success. It worked for them but I don’t think it works for most teams

To quote Deion Sanders, "Both!"

If you can get a difference maker then trading away draft picks is fine. Of course, with the CAP it can get more complicated because a guy in the prime of his career playing at an all-pro level is probably making a lot of money so the trade can have ramifications elsewhere on the roster.

I think the answer is make trades when it makes sense, and keep your draft picks when it doesn't. I am always willing to trade away picks 5 thru 7 for a player I need. Picks 1 thru 4 have to be good players.

Trading is also different for teams that are successful vs teams that are not. Losing teams are more than a player of 2 away so trading away draft picks that will be at the top of each round makes less sense. Winning teams are trading away picks at the bottom of the round and they have less value to them.

I really think a winning team has to be a player in free agency, trades and the draft. Drafting alone takes too much time and it means hitting on every draft pick. No one can do that. Even if you hit on your first 4 picks, in 4 years 3 of those 4 are going to be free agents. Keeping them while drafting another 4 starters every year is impossible. Getting a player you know is a star is better than a 1st round pick that carries a risk.

Give me Devante Adams or Mike Evans for a 1st. A 2nd for Henry is silly.
