9 to Rams for 14, 78 and 142 (Value chart says push)

It keeps coming back to Julio Jones. What happens if the Browns are asking us to move down for him and the Rams are asking us to move up for him? The 9 spot isnt the end all be all or anything but it could be a little battle.

I could do one of those take X or X or X but its kind of a cop out. So the pick is.......Cam Jordan

40 and 71 to the Falcons for 27 and 123 (Another push on the value chart). We are jumping the Bears (at 28) for a tackle.

1st - (from Rams) - 14- Cam Jordan - DE
1st - (from Falcons)- 27 - Gabe Carimi - OT
3rd- (from Rams) - 78 - Johny Patrick - CB
4th- 109 - John Moffit - G
4th -(from Falcons) - 123 - Mason Foster- LB
5th- 140 - Derrick Locke - RB/WR/RS
5th- (from Falcons) 142 - Tim Barnes - C
6th -171 and 7th - 209 - Too many picks, lets take the 6th and 7th and turn them into a 5th
5th - Henry Hynoski - FB

I hate these trade threads but nice job, actually not from the world of "crazy". Something to think about.

Was just commenting on our DL depth in another thread. Do you see Spears walking? If not, I don't want to go DL til day three.
We have too many other significant needs.

Something I was saying last year was how much we would probably have to get off of #27. Either to get up for Iupati, Pouncey, Earl Thomas, or as it turns out Dez. Or down for a Nate Allen/Vlad Ducasse combo.

I dont think we have to get off of 9. But I really think 14 and 27 is much better for the Cowboys than 9 and 40 if they cant get PP

When you factor in the low tender they gave him last year, him taking his nameplate off, and his comments on twitter it doesnt sound good for him at all. We dont know his contract demands but I would cut Igor and try and bring him back. Igor looked old and stiff this year. I believe in 1000 snaps he got 2 pressures. And he wasnt good VS the run either. To me his production could be replaced by a Ced Thorton or any JAG late in the draft.

Another interesting thing they could do w/ 14 and 27 is Tyron at 14 and Heyward at 27. But Tyron looks to be a longshot to get past the Lions at worst.

I agree 100%, based on needs and value in this draft a trade down seems like the smart thing to do but as I was just telling someone via PM, it appears the Cowboys are primed for a change. It's not likely 7 picks can make this team but 3 or 4 elite picks can make a difference.

I'm kind of expecting more of the same of last year. I would not be surprised at all to see the Cowboys move up in this draft more then we are used to.

And we should do the smart thing unless somebody falls to us. NO to a trade up with our 1st pick.

That would be great if we could come out of the draft with two first round picks on the DL and OL line. Another option at 14 and 27 could be the Wisconsin due of Watt and Carimi.

I thinkbetter Players will be on board than Patrick at that time.

Why not Carimi at 17 and B. Harris at 27? Then you can take Deunta Williams in the 3rd to play SS if Sensabaugh walks.

So, we'd come away with Watt, Carimi AND Moffitt?

I think the base concept is good but these threads get too busy with a million moving parts.

Moving down from 9 to 14 makes an insane amount of sense. That's where the value for the bigs lies; 3-4 DEs and OTs.

PP will be gone and I don't think Dallas wants anyone else badly enough to actually select at 9.

But keep all the other stuff out of the mix. Just the trade down and it is extremely likely to happen.

Lots of targets at 14 make sense: Watt, Jordan, Prince, OT of choice, Quinn if he fell....

Carimi is not athletic enough to draft at 17.
They could go safety in the 3rd but will probably sign a FA safety and give Hamlin, Church and AOA one more year.

That was the point of this thread. Finding the sweet spots for the Cowboys in this draft. I was originally going to make the trades and leave it blank for someone to finish but I couldnt help myself

I think he has a higher floor than the others. Hes a solid starting caliber CB in the 3rd round. Woudlnt be sexy though

I could see us trading up after our 1st pick. maybe a trade down and then later a treade up like the OP said.
A trade up further in the top 10 is justso incredibly expensive, it's not at all like last year's trade up to get Dez.

where would take him at - the four top OT Sherrod, Castonzo, Carimi, Smith will be gone by 15 -30

so you sit an miss again

whos Hamlin ?

I'd rather trade up for Peterson. I know it would cost us, but the payoff would be great.

what does that even mean. Why does it matter how athletic he is if he can get the job done.

Carimi is the most proven LT in this draft. He played vs better players than any other OT in this draft and most day one ready. He has proven he has been athletic enough to be a 4 year starter LT and Outland winner. We might be able to get him at 20 but he wont go much further.
