The Browns recently picked up Kareem Hunt to add to pair with rookie standout Nick Chubb. Hunt is a proficient receiver out of the backfield which makes Duke Johnson a bit redundant.

Add to the fact Browns GM Jack Dorsey's comments regarding the acquisition doesn't necessarily make Johnson "expendable yet," I think it's clear Johnson's days are numbered (yes, Hunt will likely face a suspension but I expect him to play in 2019).

Having said all that, Duke Johnson would be a great addition to this team and fill a role we really need in having a capable third-down behind Zeke. Duke is one of the league's better pass-catching RBs (235 receptions in four seasons) and is still young at 25 years old.

Would you send the Brown a 5th round pick for Johnson straight-up?

Its the right thought process, and I give you thumbs up for that realization.
The Browns just got a whole lot better there, with Chub, and now Hunt.
This Cowboys team has never realized or invested anything more than a Lance Dunbar value to address this void.
I don't think Garrett even begins to understand the RB2 concept, much less value.

I love Duke Johnson. I'd do that trade all day long

Would be silly for the Browns to let him go - but if they are willing, yes, I would trade for him. One of the better receiving backs in the league.

They have two stud rbs already, you really think they need three?

I would. I also think he could be a lead guy if a team used him that way

Not sure what his value is, but how do they keep him after adding Hunt? And don't they still have Hyde? Not a Browns fan so I don't pay attention, but it appears to me that they have an overload.

They have Kareem Hunt on a one year deal who might not play for most of next season.

Yes, I think getting rid of a back that has produced well for you for 4 years and will be cheap is kinda dumb to let go of for a guy with serious off the field issues.

Chubb and Johnson won't break the bank - you can make 3 backs work in this league. Also, I'm not entirely sure a 5th rounder is even great value for Johnson. What player in the 5th round will produce more for the Browns than Johnson?

I like Duke but he just signed a new contract and his cap hit is almost $4 million next year and gets close to $5 million the following year. Big hit for a back up running back. Plus Hunt is facing a suspension and no one knows how long it will be. I dont see the Browns trading Duke just yet and if they do, a 5th wont cut it!

Hunt may be facing a 10 game suspension on a one year deal - which means, Browns get about 6 games too look at Hunt. They rid of Johnson, they have Chubb and no one else.

If I was the Browns, I'd wait until next season before trading him. I'm not sure the point of ridding of established players for an up in the air Hunt who could easily fall back to knucklehead land at any point.

You're last couple sentences are the most important. What is his value, and what can they get for him? For the right price they will go without the luxury. I think hes worth a 3/4..

A player’s value is at its lowest at the time of the draft.

Although I wouldn't mind this move, I'd see about bringing Adrian Peterson back to Texas as the No. 2 back over Rod Smith. Then, I'd actually think we have a chance for a decent run when Elliott takes himself out for a play.

The Browns would be stupid to bank on Kareem being available for the entire season next year. Duke has also mentioned wanting to be a slot WR. So maybe the move to get Hunt was not only to get a good player but also moving Duke to the slot.

depends on your perception of what you refer to as a "back up" RB.
In todays NFL, Garrett is like you, he believes that the 2nd RB on the roster is a "backup RB", but in reality, in todays NFL, teams like NE, KC, now Cleveland, etc. etc.. many teams.. have already abandoned that old school approach.

An RB2 in this league is no longer that RB that just comes in to replicate your RB1,, your RB2 is just as valuable, but he gives the defense a completely different skill set, and he gives your offense a different weapon.

This team has come as close as a Lance Dunflop to that notion, I thought, maybe I just imagined that they were at least trying to get a clue in this elevated concept, but as usual, I was wrong.

The good thing about this kid is you use him as Bealey's replacement AND Zeke's backup. Hell, with Moore creativity, I'm sure he could design some packages with him and Zeke on the field at the same time. Just think of having, Coop, Gallup, Duke, Zeke and an upgraded TE all on the field......defensive coordinator(s) nightmare.
