If this rumor is true and the Cowboys are offered draft capital for Trey Lance, what would you prefer the front office do?

Keep Trey Lance and see what we can get out of him and see what he has to find out whether or not he can realistically be the type of starter to get the Cowboys to the NFC Championship game and beyond? And keep him as backup in case Dak stinks it up in the regular season.

Or trade him for picks and use these picks to help rebuild, which would include using those draft picks to select a QB in the 2025 draft in the case Dak isn't the Cowboys QB beyond the 2024 season?

I can't see Lance's value going up with a year less of control on his contract. I'd let this year play out and if he walks you're likely to get a comp pick if he is that in demand.
Still if someone were willing to give us a 3rd or something for him and be that dumb, then hey!!

I think that's why you play him most of preseason. Not only auditioning for you but also other teams.
But that strategy has already been tried with Lance and his previous team was surprised to get even a 4th round pick. What's supposed to change the second time around? And what team is going to convince itself that the third time is actually the charm?

We are stuck with him. Zero trade value for a $5.3M emergency QB.

The Cowboys are not trading Lance. He is is the perfect preseason quarterback to market training camp around.

Picks to rebuild???? Nobody else wanted him for more than a 7th round conditional pick.

When the 49ers were shopping him around last summer the Cowboys 4th round pick was the best they could get. The only way his value goes up is if he plays and plays well.
do you have a source for this? not saying it's untrue, i've just heard it and never saw it substantiated.
