Who do folks feel will be our trading partner in the 2nd round. Speculation is the Cowboys love Delmas, Robiskie, and Sean Smith but none are expected to be their at #51. My choice would be:

Oakland Raiders at #40 - Oakland only has 5 picks in the draft and need alot of help to get that franchise turned around. Jerry and Al seem to get along even though we haven't traded with them as much as say Cleveland/Detroit.

I would go Cleveland first. Then Oakland. Otherwise we might as well wait. If we really want players like Delmas or Robiskie, we will have to trade up into that range.

i dont mind trading up to say about the 48th pick but not any higher than that, would cost you too much with draft picks;

I could see Oakland wanting to make a deal since that have so few picks in this draft. I just don't want to give up too much to move up that far.

So? If you pay attention to the media and a lot of people on this board, we have no room on the roster for all these pesky rookies.

We are going to have to trade/move some of those picks. We can't move the two compensatory picks so we'll have to move more than a couple to get to the 4-6 + 2. That's at least three and I'm thinking 4. Some may move into next years' draft.

I do believe we will move up. Rumor has it some are really trying to move down out of the bottom of the first.

That is true but we don't need to be going up that high.

Here's a rundown of the picks. Cleveland has 5 picks, 2 in the second. If we wanted to move up, perhaps we could swap pick 2.4 for 2.19, giving them back to back picks in the second plus later round picks.

If the right WR falls to the to of the second round, the Rams may be a partner to trade with.

WR is one spot we won't need to trade up, IMO. I think Harvin and Bey will go high because teams will swoon at the last second with the thought of them breaking long plays, which means the likes of Britt (who I don't like really), Robiskie and Nicks will fall a bit.

Safety is where we'll need to trade up IMO. I'd be not at all surprised if Delmas, Johnson and Vaughn were all gone by our pick, leaving us with the questionable likes of Moore, Bruton, Chung, etc.

irvin, Goose is predicting Robiski doesn't get to 51. I'm pretty tunnel visioned about this team needing some help here.

The rest of the needs list are for back-ups. They can be had later. This skill position is one that I believe is an almost has to be type of draft need.

If Nicks were to slip into the mid twenties of the first, I might be inclined to find a way to get in front of the Giants for that player.

I think the Giants will land Edwards and go OL/TE in the 1st round.

Still, Goose doesn't know anything (ANYTHING) until the night before the draft.

I think the WRs will go in this order, roughly.

1.Maclin
2.Crabtree
3.Bey
4.Harvin
5.Britt
6.Robiskie

That's a lot of guys to go before pick 51.

Since when it is about who has the most rookies that make the roster?

When we were winning championships under Jimmy Johnson we flooded the roster with players and it fostered competition. There is not a single position on this team that could either not use improvement at the starting position or at least give some of the content depth players something to think about.

This idea that we just select a handful of players puts even more pressure on the picks to be perfect.

We got fortunate last year. Anyone want to bet that it is not the norm?

It is not about keeping score. It is about upgrading the entire roster.

It will be NE who has a 1 and 3 seconds. They want to move the KC pick #34 overall.

Seven or eight picks would foster more than enough competition. Competition doesn't actually mean anything if all the competitors are on other teams' practice squads.

Moreover, the possibility for competition is only there if there's an actual spot up for grabs.
