Training Camp Coverage Changes

I don't know if its just me, but it seems coverage of Cowboys training camp has dropped off considerably from where it used to be (10-15 yrs ago).

I remember When you would get multiple updates and videos from the media talking heads throughout a single day of coverage...all types of analysis. You would have the internet podcasters dissecting every play. Player updates were constant through out the day. Then you had fans sharing videos and reporting out their observations. It felt like nirvana. Now your lucky to get a half dozen tweets and videos that just keep getting reposted by everyone. Over 80% of the post here are not even related to what is happening in training camp but general conversations about the Cowboys that happens pre-training camp (don't get me wrong this not a criticism of the fans on this site, just the lack of training camp coverage in general).

Definitely. I think it's mostly because teams have put a lot of restrictions on filming/reporting in camp.

There's also a lot less to actually cover since they passed the new CBA. Limited padded practices and no two-a-days. No longer getting morning/afternoon reports.

Though I’ve been listening to DLLS podcast and crown global medias podcasts. They’ve been covering every day.

As you said, like every year, it’s rehashed.

80% of it is “content creators” who do nothing more than tweet quotes from press conferences and stealing from whichever one of them tweeted it first.

A smaller amount of them actually do a bit of research and formulate their own ideas and produce something that’s somewhat their own.

Gotta go find those and tune out the rest.

You can’t on the Zone as your only source of Cowboys info

We used to be able to rely on the zone to provide more than most people could consume in a day. I assume a lot of it is that now the amateurs who study and analyze are attempting to monetize on other platforms. The Zone was training camp heaven in the first ten years.

The problem with NFL network and NFL radio is the majority of the time is spent on non Cowboys news, and I am not willing to listen to thr chatter on other teams in hoped they will cover the Cowboys eventually.

I'll take a look. There was a period there where it was really lacking so I stopped visiting it a while ago. I hadn't gone back in years.

Why should a team that hasn't been to an NFC title game, let alone a SB in over 30 years demand any coverage? DAL has produced garbage while the other NFCE teams like NY and philly have won SBs. Heck even a WASH rookie QB played in an NFC title game.

Joan Collins used to ask for a thin layer of Vaseline to be applied to the camera lenses during the filming of Dynasty. They claim it made her look vibrant and beautiful. I think the lenses in Oxnard are covered with Vaseline.
