Hey guys, my wife and I are thinking about going to Oxnard for training camp but I've got a broken heel and I'm on crutches. For those who have been there, can you give me an idea of how much walking we can expect to do? It's pretty exhausting for me to get around so I'm trying to find out if it's the kind of thing where you have to park and walk for 2 miles or if it's a more reasonable distance for my broken self. Thanks and go Cowboys!

Depends on how close you can park. Giant dirt lot. You enter into an area with food venders and souveneers before you get to the bleacher area to watch practice. A couple issues I see are that the area which surrounds the field has alot of dirt and mulch, not the best situation for somebody on crutches. Also the bleachers fill up quick because there arent alot of them, you may not get a seat which you obviously need.

I remember when I approved your account here because of the username. Very unique.

I can't answer your question, but welcome, and I hope you post more now and then.

Thanks, it sounds like we should wait until next year.

As you can see, I've been lurking here for a long time. I look at this site almost everyday. I've been a Cowboys fan since the 70's and I'd like to post but the amount of venom spewed keeps me from doing so. It's odd to me to see that much of it from people who are fans of the same team. I wouldn't expect everyone to agree on all issues but it just gets unreasonably nasty here.

I feel kind of silly with my user name. When I created it, I had just watched a movie with Ray Liotta and it amused me when I realized he had pretty much made a career out of doing the maniacal laugh with his crazy eyes.

Yeah, I agree on the venom. Thankfully a lot of greats tuff gets posted here too to off set that crap.

Hey, you should still go to Camp. Maybe you can use a wheelchair for a day so you avoid crutches. Never turn down life experiences if you have a chance at them.

rollin a wheel chair or seeing camp cowboys?

btw, I just had a thought in my head....remember Prime Time's golf cart? I would love to see his wheel chair, if he rolled up in camp with a bad leg and a blinged out chair.......it would be classic Deion for sure.

Camp. You never know, players might come over to sign stuff for him.

Love the user name! haha. Liotta is the man.

I would take the trip. I'd imagine they would be able to accommodate you and help you find a seat at least.

I grew up in Austin so I at least got to go back when they trained there. I'll never forget watching Aikman and Walsh in a QB drill where they were side by side, taking snaps and throwing the ball after a 5 step drop. Aikman consistently released the ball before Walsh was even fully set. It was a thing of beauty.

I live in Big Bear, CA now so assuming the Cowboys continue to train in Oxnard, it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive to get there. We'll definitely go next year.

That is one sweet ride! Just needs some big offroad wheels and tires and I'm good to go.
It needs to be blue and silver.
