Physicists have created a working transistor using only a single phosphorus atom placed precisely in a silicon crystal.

The development could mark a big step towards quantum computing. While single-atom transistors have been produced before, it's been by chance, with researchers either searching through many devices or tuning multi-atom devices to isolate one that works....

Quantum computing? Does that make anyone else nervous? LOL

I looked up quantum computer on wikipedia. My head is swimming.:

....and here I am just learning how to use a calculator.

Too you the pop top can is state of the art :laugh1:

Not a fan of the pop top. The top needs to be placed right back in the PBR so on occasion, you can swallow it.

Ah...the old days.

My company has been working with atomic computing for years. R&D phase, of course. At it's basest form, you can create a binary code by positioning the electron in polar directions... for example, up is 0, down is 1. pretty cool stuff.

I dare anyone to master the TI-89 Platinum.

I gave mine to a friend's daughter who's a math major at Iowa State. She's taking Differential Equations her second semester. That calculator is a monster. Some of the HP engineering models are off the chain.
