I remember when this board & the media were saying Travis Frederick was the worst first round pick.

Moral of the story— no one knows how the draft picks will pan out. Don’t get too low or high on any pick. I like the idea behind this draft—defense. Our defense needs to improve. Now let’s see what happens because no one knows if this is an elite, average, or trash draft, yet.

“This board” for sure did NOT say either of those thing.
Maybe some people on this board, but it was split.

Maybe you should go find the threads for both picks...you'd be surprised at your selective memory.

A few very loud voices hated the Freddy pick, but many of us liked it just fine...at 31.
We didn't take him at 18, but traded down and got both him and T Will for 18.

And some of us were royally pissed off on draft day about the trade up for Claiborne.
Giving up our 1st and 2nd for him was infuriating.

As for today. Just throwing up my hands and hoping for the best.
For starters, I probably care about 10% as much now as I used to.
Guess I grew up

I loved the Fred pick and hated the MO tradeup. Does that make me a draft God then? I mean, this is the example being used, so I must be some almighty guru, right?

Hold on

MANY derided the Mo pick as possible the dumbest pick in 15 years at the time. Timelines will show it.

And While it may have appeared Frederick was a reach, he was the best Center on the board and got rid of Phil Costa. The focus on Oline was a welcome departure from the Cory proctor/Costa vomit fest that plagued the team

Every time I see Bobby Wagner I think of Claiborne. That is the guy we would have drafted in the 2nd...according to the team on draft day. I also believe would have drafted Brockers with our number 1 pick if we stayed put. He’s had a solid career.

Outlier and Travis Frederick was still a bad value on draft day because you didn’t have to pick him there.

For every this one time something worked there is a mile long list of guys that didn’t.

No one thought Fredrick was the worst first round pick. Many thought he was a reach, but not the worst first round pick.

Claiborne scored like a 4 on the wonderlic. There was allot hate for that pick on this board if I remember correctly.

And we never talked with him

Just needed CBs. Carr at $50MM and 1st and 2nd for Deion part Deux

Results: 27th ranked pass defense in 2012 ; 8-8. We have been here before

If we keep drafting pass rushing DT's we'll keep getting gashed on the ground. That's the way it goes around here. So we should expect another year of 100 yard rushers against us. Plain and simple.

Can't build a defensive line, can't build a defense.

Sorry buddy but you can take your bull s logic some place else. Do you know where you are? This is Cowboyszone.com. If our picks aren’t well known, physical freaks and all americans, they are trash and likely busts. They needed to be discussed as such. And front office people’s heads need to roll. And we have to do our part by calling it like it is.

Yes.
Same here
Brockers and Wagner.......and not really speculation as those were players on our board there

btw, same thing repeats over and over. Jerry lets the coaches have their way over the scouts more than he should at times and it bites us.
The previous year, Ryans defense had sucked and he blamed it on not having the corners he needed.
He convince Jerry he needed least 2 star corners

so
  1. we got Brandon Carr in FA fir enormous contract atthe time
  2. we made a huge trade up in thedraftto get Claiborne

Never said to love the picks. Point is no one knows how this draft will pan out, so stop acting like you do.

I remember when this board hated the Taco pick. They were right.

I remember when this board loves the CeeDee pick. They were right.

Much better to be objective than to just sign off on everything the team does.

Morris Claiborne also suffers for being drafted over HOF player Fletcher Cox, who may well have changed the outcome of quite a few seasons over the last 10 years.

Nope I just meter my expectations accordingly, as I have since 2007 when I realized what Jerry was going to give us in the post-Parcells era. Helps that I've learned emotional regulation from school.

A few very loud voices are the ones making most of the noise about this draft also
