Trent Edwards threw 31 passes last night, and the attempts went a net 80 yards downfield -- an average of 2.58 yards downfield. In comparison, Romo's first nine pass attempts alone went a net 87 yards downfield.

Edwards' longest ATTEMPT (not completion) was thrown 14 yards downfield, and only four went more than 8 yards downfield. Eleven of them were thrown behind the line of scrimmage, with one more thrown right to the line of scrimmage.

Edwards finished 14-for-14 on passes thrown 1 yard downfield or less (including the 11 behind the line), but he was 9-for-17 with an interception on passes thrown 2 yards downfield or more. On passes thrown between 4 and 9 yards downfield, he was 3-for-9 with one interception.

I will never know why we didn't play the safeties closer to the LOS. They were slowly driving down the field by throwing to backs over and over, and it drove me crazy

There was a graphic during the game that showed Trent Edwards was 2/2 for 19 yards on passes between 11-19 yards.

Uh, how exactly does that add up?

And yet the BSPN crew were wetting their pants over this guy.

If we had Romo running that exact same game plan 90% of the posters here would want Garrett fired.

What Adam posted is how far the QB threw the ball, not how far the completion went (your stats show how far back we played and how we couldn't tackle).

That graphic they showed was messed up. They had him completing a pass longer than 20 yards downfield for a 23-yard gain. But the 23-yard gain came on a dumpoff pass to Lynch that was thrown 3 yards downfield.

His next longest completion was 18 yards. That was a screen pass caught 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

I think they believed that Evans or Parrish could run by our CB's and didnt want to give up a cheap 6...T-New isnt 100% (obviously) and Reeves is still learning

ultimately it worked out because they only had one or two decent drives all night, and only pts on one series...the tackling has gotta improve though or we'll get killed against New England

There was also a graphic that said he was 1-1 for over 20 yards. That play? Short pass to Lynch. Talk about over blown stats.

Sorry, wasn't questioning your stats, Adam, but ESPN's graphic. My question was how do you get 19 yards by adding two completions between 11-19 yards. Even if both were only 11 yard completions, wouldn't that give you 22 yards?

I know. I was just saying that the graphic wasn't showing what it was supposed to be showing (a breakdown by length of the pass). That the math was wrong makes it even worse. Aaaaaag!

A YAC breakdown would have been more helpful. But I suppose expecting accurate and informative statistics from ESPN is asking a lot.

.......and yet Reeves still lines up 8-10 yards off the ball.

And that was not a problem yesterday. The Bills could not sustain scoring drives, so it was good strategy by the coaches to have Reeves line up deep.
