I want to make the case that if there, Trent Richardson should be the Cowboy's pick. First you draft best player available, and many believe he is the best back since Adrain Peterson. How many drives that have been stopped, if we could have just made that first down? This will help our defense by extended drives and keep the defense off the field. Finally, he is a plus player, with no major injuries an no character concerns.

One interesting point is that he went to the same high school as Emmitt Smith, and broke all of his records. He also patterns himself after Emmitt..

I know that we have Felix, who has been injury prone and Demarco Murray, who I like, has also been injury prone in his College career...

I want that player that we can give the ball in the fourth quarter with 7 minutes to go to finish the game.... Trent Richardson is that player..

Good chance he is there. He'll be a difference maker too. The scouts gush about the guy. They wont draft him though, too many wholes, adequit players on the roster at the position, and RB is no longer a premium position.

1) he will be gone

2) you could put Jim brown behind this oline and it wouldn't be enough

Get DeCastro and sign Nicks/Grubbs if possible and you'll get the same results with Felix and DeMarco.

A healthy starting Murray for a full season would have put up staggering numbers.

I agree we need OL help. I am just saying.

we dont need a RB we have murray who is very good i mean he ran over 800 yards in what only 6 games i mean i know i don't have to do math here but seriously that 100 plut yards a game, and then having felix as back up i believe we are good with RB and tanner for when murray or felix gets hurt. The only reason i would see us getting Trent is to trade for a good OL or DB but that would cost us more than it would help in the long run. I believe that we should go for OL first round and possibly 2nd round too, 3rd WO then defense the rest of the time. My opinion is kind of shakey i understand that but with us going to redo Romo's contract cause we know its all coming(which i don't have a problem with) but that tells me that we are going to stick with the pass game more than ran game. We need OL to keep romo safe to try and get the long pass to Dez and then some good DB and LB to help Ware and Lee out on the defense.

I've thought about this as well. I'm pretty confident Richardson will be available.

Even after Murray's rookie season, I do have my doubts.

There's games where he's unstoppable and others where he looks so slow and tired. It's strange.

But I agree with the others, with our holes, we can't justify spending yet another high pick on a RB.

Maybe not.

If Richardson is on the board I would suggest we work out a trade for Murray and make Richardson the pick. A RB like that falling to you is an opportunity you can't pass up.

We could hopefully get a high 2nd or late 1st for Murray and then draft an OG at that spot.

I like him as a player, but you don't need a superstar running back to win in this league anymore. You can find great backs in rounds 2-4 that can be just as effective. However, if we were looking to address the position, I would see what I could get for Felix in a trade, and then draft RB Doug Martin from Boise St. in round 2.

Murry came up 3 yards short of 900 and only played in about half the games. A full season with Murry and he would have had 1200 or 1300 yards.

The OL needs some upgrade but if far from the worst in the NFL. Now, the defense, that's another story.

Hmm, some of the posts in this thread (great player but not premium position, etc) haven't applied to DeCastro in previous debates...

I'm not for drafting any RB this high. Just saying.

Well, I can't say I would be totally against Trent if Jerry had the guts to make the pick. This could be Felix's last season here anyway, and there is no question in my mind that Trent would be the BPA at that point if available. I like Murray alot, but Trent is a beast.

RB isn't as much of a premium position anymore, but guard has never been a premium position yet everyone wants one (yeah I know its alot higher need).

Really, I'm still really open on the draft til we get through free agency.

To be fair DeCastro is in a position of need, while Richardson isn't. Honestly I wouldn't be against Richardson if he was the BPA, but there does come a time when you draft too many skill players.

I agree. I thought both Murray and Felix did a good job considering the mess they ran behind

How dare you suggest that an OL that in 2012 supported a QB with a 100+ QB Rating and a RB with a 4.5 ypc and another RB a 5.5 ypc wasn't the worst offensive line in the history of footballers that ever footballed at any level of football.

We've got to immediately sign Carl Nicks at $30 million guaranteed, draft David DeCastro (even if we have to trade up) and hope/pray someone will give us a pretty good center in exchange for DeMarcus Ware in a trade. Even then, we wouldn't have truly adequately addressed this offensive line.

We should also draft Brooks in the 3rd to start the NFL's first guard platoon system. All the Giants and Eagles edge rushers won't know what hit them.

Next year we will draft 3 safeties.

Yeah, because it's not like the QB had broken ribs and a messed up hand last year, and missed half the season with a broken clavicle the year before.

If Richardson's there at 14, I run the pick card up to the commish with his name on it.

What a steal that would be. The guy's a special back.
