Trey Wingo of ESPN Agrees to Answer Questions for the Zone

I would seriously like to know why most ESPN reporters seem to have a bias against the Cowboys.

This is not anything new; it was that way in the 90s when the Cowboys were winning Super Bowls. ESPN reporters always seemed to focus on negativity where the Cowboys were concerned (on the field, and off).

If an ESPN personality is going to answer questions from Cowboy fans, I don't think this question should be considered out of bounds.

First, Trey, thanks for answering questions for us cowboy fans, and i enjoy listening to you on espn;

1. Do you think Darren Woodson would be a good hire for defensive backs coach for the Cowboys?

2. Hudson Houck, do you think he is our next offensive line coach? or whom?

3. Why do you think the cowboys fall apart at the start of december, iis some of it due to owner jerry jones expecting the cowboy players to attend functions, charities etc and they dont have enough time in december to really practice, (as you probably heard, the cowboys never practiced in pads in december, why was that) or do you think there isnt enough of in your face character team leaders with a swagger to them to have other cowboy players fall in line, example Micahel Irwin, Troy Aikman, Darren Woodson, Charles Haley?

Do you think the Cowboys will have a chance at Charles RB from Texas or Felix Jones or Rice in the draft or whom do you see the cowboys drafting as a rb for cowboys and how about cb since the cowboys need a shutdown corner opposite newman and henry is getting old?

In 2nd or 3rd round whom at WR do you see the cowboys drafting as a speed WR and a good kickoff-punt returner? Dallas needs a good young punt returner and kickoff guy.

do you think the cowboys will keep jason fergueson at NT and let him work with Tank Johnson at NT and use Ratliff at DE some?

Trey, how are you? I hope you have the time to answer this....I am a graduating senior and enrolling at Texas Tech to major in Mass Communications/Broadcast Journalism. I want to know any insider information that could help me know what I have to do to get where I want to be at some point in the future. Of course my dream is being where you are, but thats not possible right off the bat unless your a retired superstar. How do you break into the sports journalism business, and I dont mean small town newspaper or radio.....I have the will and determination, I just need to know what I need to do to get where I have always wanted to be.

So in college, what do I need to do....once I graduate, what steps should I take? Or am I in over my head and unless you know people your SOL? Any light you could shed for me would be tremendous, thanks so much.

Hello, Mr. Wingo. After joining ESPN in 1997, you’ve had the exclusive opportunity of observing how your network has interpreted, showcased and broadcast the National Football League for many years. In 2003, the league launched its own network and has enjoyed much success by delivering their product directly to its fans. In my opinion, this has shifted a significant fan base away from ESPN for daily news and insight. What measures have ESPN taken that you can acknowledge will combat the popularity of the NFL Network with pro football fans and what steps would you suggest ESPN make that they wouldn’t?
