Well yea, that's kind of my point. Yes, more people will continue to tune in while the US is competitive, but 4 years from now, if they don't qualify, people aren't going to bother to watch I don't think.

Just look at the women's world cup...lots of people watched when the US played Brazil and, in turn, Korea...but how many people are watching women's soccer other than the World Cup?

American fan interest will dissipate if the team isn't any good.

We will see. Fortunately they have a good program and a good pipeline of talent.
Im wishing for the best.

Three reasons soccer is in the news:

World Cup
US Team is doing well
The times the games are on work out well THIS time

Next time the games will be on something like 4 in the morning.

This happens every four years.

It is like Womens Gymnastics or Figure skating
A once every four years thing

I agree with you, though people could still watch the games from Russia in 2018.

The US Hockey games were on at what, 730 AM or something with the Canada game at noon? People will still find a way to watch the games in Russia next time...unless of course the US is eliminated.

I've never had a big interest in soccer, but I've watched quite a few of the World Cup matches and I've been pleasantly surprised.

One negative though, I thought flopping was only an issue in the NBA, boy was I wrong.

Vlade Divac had to get it from somewhere!
