I farted around with this a few years ago and didnt do it, but I am gonna give it a go this weekend. We see a lot of people asking questions abut making the trip for a game, so I am going to share all of my activities for the weekend in one thread. I do not have any youtube channel, no blog, no podcast, no nothing, so Im not trying to get any followers.

We leave tomorrow morning out of Oakland and fly direct into Dallas Love. I am essentially going to share with you where we go, what we do, and times. We have a regular routine for Sunday morning breakfast. I hope this will help anyone thinking of making the trip on how much time you need to alot for gameday.

Im just going to use this thread to post our activities. Possibly an 80s hair metal festival starting at 330 on Saturday. Sounds like fun as I a always up for live music and partying on these trips.

My wife of 36 years got us and my oldest daughter tickets to the last season opener at Texas Stadium and it has become a family tradition to come to at least the opener every season (minus covid) since.

This year we are coming to the opener, the Iggles game in Nov. and I found out last week my wifes company comped us 2 tickets for the Bucs game in late Dec.

A playoff game would likely having me going to that also. Home or away.

HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!.

Flight schedule to depart at 640 am, we got delayed to 730. No biggie. Get to budget fast real, get a pretty nice challenger. Wife texts us to tell us she only booked the hotel near stadium for Sunday night. So we have no hotel.

No biggie, wife is a diamond platinum whatever through Marriott. We are going to an afternoon tribute band festival in plano. Starts with bon jovi, then van halen, then GNR so this is right up my alley.

Wife handles the Saturday Marriott hotel, check in, then across street to Scruffy Duffy sports bar for lunch. Food is avg at best. Wings warm, pizza wRm...but service is good. 10 tvs all showing the Notre dame Purdue game. Wth?

More to come.

Why not fly into DFW Airport? It's a lot closer to the stadium. Nothing wrong with Love Field, though, and it's nowhere near as busy.

It was probably mentioned last time you made this trip, but go to Texas Live. It's less than a half mile across a parking lot from Jerry World.

The thing I miss the most is HEB. I also worked for them for 12 years at their HQ in San Antonio.
HEB has two meanings here in the DFW area. There's the grocery store chain, of course, but I was talking about the cities about 6 miles north of Jerry world - Hurst-Euless-Bedford. Locals refer to it as the HEB area.

We are now getting some of the HEB grocery stores in the area.
One will open in about a year a few miles from me.

The Dallas Ft. Worth area was the last big expansion area for HEB. They’ve been waiting and building the infrastucture (warehouses and distribution centers) in Waco and other nearby places so you’ll see a lot of expansion in that area in the next few years.

I fly southwest. Between my wife and I, we haven't paid for a flight in years. Weve been to Texas live many times. Not tonight.

Don't know if you're going to drive around any or it is a quick trip but I will soundly recommend visiting 407 BBQ in Argyle just off I35W. North of Fort Worth a bit. Yeah, a friend owns the place but out-frikken-standing Texas pit BBQ. I don't get there often (300 miles away) but it is a must go for me when in the area. Recommend it to all you MetroMess folks. Worth the trip.

Ok....bought our booze, because we all know you can't get it on Sunday in Texas. Then....bam,I got the jackpot. A festival of Bon Jovi, David Lee Roth era van halen, general 80s hair metal, Guns n roses. .and this Van Halen band is smokin!om at box garden at legacy hall in Plano. I will close this place down as live music, especially 80s hair metal is my thing. Here we go!!!!! By the way, this brown ale is fantastic.
