2019 - the year of the Jerry Jones contracts holdout.

I haven't gotten caught up in the negotiations of the parties for Dak, Zeke and Coop. I expect all to be signed. Dallas has ALWAYS ponied up the money. Everything else is just noise.

Jerry's not going to kill his golden goose. I don't begrudge him holding out for the best deals possible.

umm other teams pay their stars..its h\why Gurley has the biggest contract, bell got his, others all near 10-12 at RB, and man dont get me started on overpaid QBs and WRs.. this isnt a Jerry issue, In fact at this point we have one of the lower cap number sin the league if you average the players salary's.. until now you have to pay the piper sometime or keep hoping to grab young talent. only seems to work for NE..lol

elite or Star type players at key positions in EVERY Pro sport get PAID, and the scraps go to the fill ins..its the nature of the game , at least we have a hard cap, the NBA and worse MLB is far more out of control with salarys to big names that typically dont effect championships.. the Yankees it worked for a long time but what has it got them of late? they still have top paid salarys and havent done much of anything the last 5years or more and still out at the Trade deadlines gobbling up high prices players..

lets stop putting this on Jerry , the owners make billions and the players want the biggest piece they can get..

ATL a good example, they are paying top dollar for players for a few years now..more then Jerry but it was going to happen..CLE will be paying the [iper very soon , took them 10plus years just to get lucky in the draft and hit on some key layers now all those high draft picks and FA pickups will have their hands out very soon..

If the Jones’ believed this core could win a championship, they should have locked everyone up early.
What was the benefit in waiting?

Either they don’t think they can with this core, or they thought they could outsmart everyone and negotiate through the media and get hometown discounts.

I believe it’s the latter and they misplayed it, between their public statements and allowing the market to get in front of them, they are currently in this position.

NFL teams have to spend at least 89% of their cap over the course of 4 years, so there isn't all that much lot of wiggle room.

Most of the time when teams spend less than the full cap, it is because they are saving up cap space to roll over to the next year to sign their upcoming contract extensions. The Falcons are a big example of this as they've known for a while that extensions and increases to Julio, Grady Jarrett, Deion Jones, Keanu Neal and Jake Mathews were coming.

If a team doesn't keep some cap in reserve, they can easily lose some of their key pieces or not be able to sign a replacement if a key injury occurs.
