Does anyone know what time Super Bowl VI (Cowboys - Dolphins) began? I'm asking because in watching the game the sun seemed to be so bright when the game started. Was just curious. It almost had the look of a noon or 1:00 pm start.

  • Date: January 16, 1972
  • Game time: 1:35 p.m. CST
  • Game weather: 39 °F (4 °C), windy.[9]

Thanks guys. Interesting. They would never start a Super Bowl in the middle of the day today.

True. Super Bowl XI was the last one to start and end in daylight.

It's more of a global game nowdays. The more people you can expose the game to the more money you can get from advertising.

I'm still amazed it took the NFL so long to figure out that they could get a huge market on a Saturday playoff game.

Yep, and the next one, XII, was the first one played indoors in a domed stadium.

The entire pre-game show for this one, entitled "Countdown to Kickoff" lasted a whole 30 minutes!! And, it was sponsored by ONE COMPANY, Black and Decker. It is actually pretty interesting to watch, if for no other reason it is quite a contrast to what the Super Bowl has become. Could you imagine only 30 minutes of pre-game build up, and only one sponsor for the pre-game show?

That would be heavenly. I'd also like a singer who didn't screw up the Anthem.
