Troy, looking back and talking about your junior high days are a lot different than looking back and talking about your Super Bowl days. I can understand not caring to reflect back to your junior high days, but I would relish talking about my Super Bowl days if I had that on my resume.

It really seems like Troy has a realistic perspective as to what is needed to win a Super Bowl. I think he hit the bullseye when it comes to what the Cowboys failed to do to effectively improve their offense. It seems he also hit the nail on the head about them needing to decide to part ways with Zeke. Jerry is forever a fan to excess when it comes to parting with players who have been valuable to his team in the past. He's proven as much in the past, far too many times, to contend otherwise. I'd say it's quite probable that we'll spend somewhat high picks for a WR, OT, CB and RB in the upcoming draft. Let's not be surprised if a promising DE is on that list. It'd serve us well to acquire a really good DT in vet FA, no doubt.

3 things
Aikman thinks zekey needs to go
Cowboys did not properly address wr after they dumped amari
Aikman doesnt care where he is rated in past qb's
oh and a 4th, he doesnt care about halftime shows in SB . I think they are just part of making SB an entertainment event over a football game, which is just secondary.

Troy doesn't dwell in the past. He says so right here.

Brady is and will always be the standard. As great as Mahomes is he's not winning 5+ more SBs.

No QB will ever surpass Brady just like no RB will ever break Emmett's rushing record.
Granted it’s going to be a tough hill to climb, but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible that Mahomes reaches Brady if he plays long enough. I certainly wouldn’t bet on him doing it. It may be even more difficult for an RB to surpass Emmitt because it’s a passing league and most teams are rotating backs. Teams don’t run the ball like they used to.

It would be keen to have Aikman as GM.
I'd say no. Troy is the prototypical quarterback as far as his mentality goes. Even though he got his 3 rings more thru Emmitt than any other factor, his view is that "we gotta have 4 great receivers to win". And yes, the league isn't the same as it was in the 1990's, I'm not saying that Dallas has to return to the running game as the primary focus on the offense, it may return to that one day, but at this point it's a passing league.

However, whether it be the running game or the passing game, it's still true that "it starts up front". We just saw the Eagles, with 70 sacks in the regular season get ZERO in the SB. Of course, Mahomes is pretty mobile and has a quick release, but he had a bum ankle, and his o-line kept him spotlessly clean, sack-wise, all game. The offensive line is a huge part of both the running game and the passing game, Dallas hasn't got a great line now, and with the soon to be gone Tyron Smith and not that far behind Zack Martin out of the picture, Tyler Smith can't do it alone. Steele, Biadasz and McGovern aren't up to the level you need.

Troy looks at things through a qb's eyes, that's the way he'd run the team as gm, and it doesn't appear he thinks much about the running game. And he did say KC's balanced game plan was important, but I don't think he'd stick on the running game as much as it needs to be....
