Troy Aikman on his normal Thursday morning call on The Ticket.
On that other station was Ian Rappaport at same time. Obviously I listened to the ticket. LOL.
Asked if 4 days later he still feels the same about the game. He said hard not to, reminds him of a game on T-Days, cowboys and ither Commanders or Bears, he couldn't remember, but Craig Krenzel was the QB. Both teams were bad and neither were going to the playoffs. But this game for 2 teams with high expectations, it had to be right there for bad play with the T-Day game.
Asked about if he thought Weeden and how he would do. He started in and just talked, but never really answered the question. not on purpose, I think subjest just went to something else. About losing Dez, team would be fine with Tony, then to lose Tony. What they will miss is tony turning a sack into a 1st down or a TD, turning a 3rd down into a 1st down.
Team talented in offense, got better in defense, but in a few years, we will look back at this draft and say, woow, that was some talent in this draft this year.
Both Atlanta and Dallas confident coming into the game, no one on Dalls thinks...we are done with all these injuries...
Always liked Ryan since he came into the league. His rookie year, after about 4 games, seen 5 passes of film on him, and liked what he seen. well coached. New coach, young players, so their 2 come from behind wins give them confidence. But their OL is going through some adjustments as the first 2 games, Ryan has taken a lot of hits.
Eagles...he still believes Chip Kelly has the right system, just needs to slow down his offense. As for getting rid of the players he did, it's not fair to the organization to be critical of those moves...WHAT?...holy crap, couldn't believe he said that. Just a horrible game. However he did say, that it's possible Dallas Defense is better than what people think. Easy to say Dallas offense will need to carry the defense, as that is what people are used to. But they are better than what people think they are. With all the moves they made to get better.
Weeden / Cassell, good move to bring in that veteran QB. Will learn the system quick. Thinks if Weeden struggles, they would not hesitate to put in Cassell. But they kept Weeden for a reason to be the back up.
Commanders / Giants. Hasn't seen the Commanders or film yet. Not sure if for real, as to all the stuff that has happened, is it still too much to overcome. Winning helps with a lot of that, and people tend to overlook things.
Sounded as if he was not to high on them yet.
All teams think they can win the division at this point, without Dez and Romo, but Dallas still thinks they can win it. No team thinks they don't have a chance, especially with them 2 out for awhile.
Asked if he thinks a 5-11 team wins the division. LOL. He said, he didn't think it would be like the NFC south last year. hopes it isn't as FOX hangs their hat on the NFC East.
Likes the format of the divisions, so if a 10-6 team is out because a division winner is 8-8, then so be it, it's still a good format.
