  • I respect Dan Campbell's teams. Very easy team to get behind. Lions have been darling of NFC for last few years. Normally Cowboys come in banged up this time of year but healthy.
  • Philly on Monday Night against Chargers. (My Game) I feel that if Dallas beats Detroit and Philly loses to Chargers, I would predict the Cowboys to win the Division.
  • Very impressed with last several wins for Cowboys, coming from behind against last year's Super Bowl Teams. The trade with Jets felt like the Amari Cooper trade during Raiders game. Looks like it is coming to fruition. Team is different this year when facing adversity. No finger pointing. No on putting their head down. They play as a team.
  • Bad news is how behind the Cowboys are. But good news is if they do get in the Playoffs, they are on a roll and will be challenging for any opponent.
  • Cowboys Defense looked dramatically different than one saw against Arizona. Q is a hell of a player but there are a lot of other moves too. I like the way they are using their personnel that came back, Overshown and Logan Wilson. I think it was a collection of things coming back at right time. I'm a big fan of Coach Eberfluss, he has had some good defensive groups. Wasn't about him not knowing how to coach D, there was a lot more to it.
  • Blows me away that people are suggesting Nick Sirianni loses his job. It's as good a first time head coach resume as you'll find. I don't understand the drama. When he first came to Philly he ran the same offense he did with Phil Rivers, but he pivoted and went to run heavy offense. They were off and running the next year. That was their key to success last year too. Other problem is they continue to lose coaches. But that's what happens when you win. Their OCs are now head coaches. Kevin Patullo their OC, I don't put it all on him. I think part of what they do is for Jalen Hurts comfort level. Not a lot of shifts or motions that you see around the league. Not much play action or screen game either. Not much scheme, and not a lot of easy throws, and really about your WRs being able to win on the outside and that's hard when there's not a lot of disguise to what you're dealing. I haven't figured out yet though if it's because of their offense, or because of what Jaylen Hurts is comfortable with. But biggest weakness has been Sequon Barkley this year, just not able to get the runs this year.
  • I guarantee you Dak isn't even thinking and just playing when those calls come in. But it's a hard way to play QB when every play you have to fret over down and distance.
  • Justin Herbert gets hit a lot. Their offensive line has been decimated with injuries. 9 different combinations in 12 games. Herbert had the hand surgery. Huge game for Chargers next week too trying to keep up with Denver. Will be.a Playoff atmosphere MNF with Philly and Chargers. Don't know yet if Philly will get Chargers with Herbert. Think it's actually good that Philly is on the road. Their fans have been booing them. But Chargers have a hard time getting fans in new location. So we'll see. Called many games where other team had more fans than Chargers.

Bonus recap: Calvin Watkins Ranch Report in Detroit
  • Cold and snow here, but they play indoors
  • My gut is I don't think Aman St Brown will play tonight. Low ankle, not high ankle. But watched the videos and he was rolled up pretty well. Lions know they need this game, but they also have 10 days off if they rest him.
  • They will challenge Cowboys in run defense. If Cowboys dont have Clowney tonight, they will have some problems.
  • You have to realize these are different teams this year vs last year. Cowboys much more mature. Lions have more struggles. But I think this game will be bigger than the KC game. Cowboys must win this game or they won't make the playoffs.
  • Yes, I do get the feeling that vibe with Dallas is different than earlier in year, and agree with what other media members are saying.
  • A lot of us questioned the Brian Schottnheimer but he has stayed the course and showed us why he was hired. He has held players more accountable than I've seen in a long time in Dallas. Last night, I saw the offensive line having dinner with Dak. These guys have really bonded and have good chemistry this year.
  • My prediction: Cowboys win 28-17. I just think the Cowboys are playing so well right now. Brown will hurt the Lions and even if he plays he's not 100%. Cowboys defense is so much better now.

It bothers me how no one speaks on how poorly coached Lions are losing Ben and Glenn(Sheppered has done well with the injuries). Dan coaches game terrible. No one in media ever calls it out though.
Lives by his emotions and intensity which is great, and definitely gets the players behind him, but does seem like a HC that probably needs some analytics or scheme guys to support his opportunities. Lot of injuries this year, lost both coordinators, welcome to the NFL! Not every season is a holiday. Cowboys need to win this game now and try and get themselves in Playoff contention. Like Aikman says, they are hot now and it's the right time. Folks are optimistic about next year, but we don't have our playmaker WR or tough RB locked up next year. And defense is all healthy now except for Diggs. Those windows are small. Let's go Cowboys!

I think we gotta start the game ahead in this one. Grab a lead. Points of any kind. Pick and choose carefully when to be aggressive. Use Detroits own overaggressive penchant against them. I'd run delay hand offs, draw plays, RB screens, stop and go hot reads. We can burn them deep in this game. Be patient and do what we do.

Troy speaks words of iron !

Just play well Dak and the defense. Make us proud to be cowboys !

I soooo much want to see trench domination. Rip Dan Campbell's heart out, Cowboys !
Yeah, I don't always agree with Troy but I respect him that he doesn't pull any punches. He says exactly what he means.

Most of us knew Schottenheimer was a joke of a hire.

He was the laziest puppet Jerry could find. His resume mediocre. There was nothing substantial to hang his hat on.

Look how dumb we are.

Its not that I'm actively trying to hedge in most cases, its acknowledging how wildly unpredictable the NFL is.

That last time I felt really certain this year was that GB would blow the doors off of us. Wrong again.
