I love how 75% of cowboys fans give Taylor Mays such a hard time, saying things like he his tight hips, he has no nose for the ball, he only has straight-line speed, he doesn't wrap up.

Here's the bottom line Taylor Mays is much faster and stronger than Troy Polamalu ever was. He covered more ground than Troy ever did and they also went to the same school in the same program USC. Let's look at the numbers and you tell me why Troy Polamalu seemed to go in the mid-first round and turned out to be a near hall of famer at this point in his career.

Troy In his career as a 3-year starter, Polamalu has 278 tackles 6 interceptions, 13 deflections, 2 fumble recoveries. 40 yard dash time: 4.51

**Taylor Mays in his career had 274 tackles 5 interceptions 15 deflections, 1 forced fumble. 40 yard dash time: 4.24

Troy is 5-10 207, Taylor is 6'3 230, look at how much faster

Not too mention He also ONLY had one interception his last two years at USC! 1 interception in his last two years? Hmmmm sound like someone I know.

Here's the bottom line, we should traded up and got him in the second round before the 49ers did we will regret it, just like we did when we passed on Stephen Jackson for Julius Jones unreal.

I guess if you're a nerd and all you do is look at stats, you can compare Polamalu to Mays.

I mean . . . Quincy Carter statistically had a better rookie season than Donovan McNabbs rookie campaign.

Sam Shade had comparable statistics to Darren Woodson near the end of Woodsons career.

Who needs to see the games when you can go by statistics?

PS - Welcome to the forum. I hope you have a brief stay.

Polamalu is much better he has proved it on the big stage vs the best and is a major differance maker for the Steelers. Mays has not done jack, he looks poor in coverage on the college level now he will see top WR with NFL QB's throwing it. I'm more than happy to have Sean Lee over the combine hero

He gets knocked for having 5 pics, troy had 6.

Watch the game not the stats. In too many big games Mays was out of position and over running plays getting turned around this vs college WR some who will not go pro. The Pro WR and Pro QB's much more talented than anything Mays has faced.

I really don't understand the point in either propping up Mays or cutting him down. He's a physical freak and has a lot to prove in the NFL, we'll see.

I'm glad we did not get him I watched enough USC games to know his game is not that good. People fell in love with his physcial traits and combine numbers. But when you are getting turned around like Mays was getting it will not get any easier at the next level. Hell Roy Williams looked much better at OU than that and we saw the problems he faced in coverage as he was dealing with a complete different level of play

Exactly. We don't have him so what other benefit is there to you continuing to declare his career a bust before it begins? He's in the NFL, the only thing left for him is to play and either succeed or fail. Let him do either, it's no food off your plate either way.

None of these topics are food off my plate, does not mean they will not be discussed.

Troy played 3 years, Mays played 4.

Mays had 3 ints as a freshman. 1 as a soph,0 as a junior and 1 as a senior.

Not very impressive stats if you consider the majority of his ints came as a freshman. That just shows he was either figured out or just has no ball skills at all.

Polamalu was drafted a bit earlier than expected, by the Steelers, iirc. Turned out to be wise on their part, though he did not start at all his first year, and was considered a bust then by the early bird whiners.

/Point the OP thought he was making.

Cool story bro. Awesome first post too.:laugh2:

Troy plays a lot smarter than Mays does. Mays has a lot of work to do if he wants to be anywhere as good as T-Pain.

Totally, absolutely agree. IMO, Mays was, and will be, one of the biggest busts in this draft.

I saw Terrell Pryor make Taylor Mays look silly. That is pretty bad since Pryor is not a good passer, yet(if he ever will be).
