Troy Polamalu really that better than Taylor Mays?

Exactly when did someone out run Taylor Mays when he couldnt catch up with them from the goal-line refresh my memory :laugh2: :laugh2:

In the OSU game he looked like crap and gave up some big plays in that game. Stopping a guy at the goal line not does not change the fact you gave up the play to the goal line and now the opposing team is in great position to score. You seem impressed by his speed go for it but that speed means nothing if you are giving up big plays and he has way to many for a guy who is supposed to be all world.

Its just another dissapointment, almost as bad as when Steven Jackson fell right into our hands at #23 and traded down and took Julius Jones

It is a disappointment for you. Not everyone was as high on Mays as you.

Sean Taylor is the best draft prospect not just saftey prospect, yes I said it draft prospect of ALL-TIME. Taylor 6'3 230 pounds running a 4.24, is the closest to Sean Taylor physically, no one had the ball-hawking ability or skills Sean had no one will,

Please, Sean Taylor was routinely out of position and getting run over in the NFL. He wasn't the 'best safety of all time' until he died. You must be a Deadskin fan.

Don't get me wrong Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is a great talent and probably a steal of the draft, but to transition him to Saftey will be tough, Taylor is NFL ready now, with being put in the right scheme he can play is position to right standards, Pete Carrol didn't use Taylor the right way at USC.

In your view he is ready now, in my view he is far from ready and really think the guy has bust writen all over him. For his sake I hope I'm wrong because honestly I don't dislike him and wish no bad towards him. Just based on watching him I was far from impressed with his play.

I said Sean Taylor was the best "draft prospect of all time" and if you knew anything about Scouting college talent you would know this is true. Anyone who ever covered the 2004 Draft knew this and still knows this, what did you just start watching the draft? hahaha. Sean was on his way to becoming the most dominant Saftey of all time if he stayed out of legal trouble... Obviously Ronnie Lott, Steve Atwater and Ed Reed are the best of all-time, but no one had the ability Sean Taylor had, he would of went down as the best saftey of all-time just ask Ed Reed his former team mater at Miami, or anyone else that covered him, by the way Seans last full year he played... 129 tackles, 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles, hmm Ran over? hahaha hardly. He had to double in coverage of making tackles near the line of scimmage to help support a struggling sucking Commanders rush defense whom I hate.

That's smart OLB that runs a 4.24, what was Vernon Gholston production in college? he was never an all-american. Taylor Mays had to be a 3 time ALL-AMERICAN at USC for his poor play? Who is going to get past Taylor on a fast route for a long touchdown in the nfl? Not many

Well, Vernon dominated in a couple of big games if I recall, but overall, like Mays, his on field production never matched is athletic abilities, at least not consistently. The point about Gholston is, someboby was going to look at his combine numbers, ignore what they saw on tape, and use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a guy who should have been a 4th rounder at best. The Jet's did, and there's written evidence on a few boards, if you back that far, of me saying that they'd regret that pick, and, of course, now they do `cause they guy's not a player.

I see much of the same thing in Mays.

As for a receiver running past Mays and his supposedly 4.24 (LOL...) speed, all the guy has to do is put one move on him and he's open. Two moves and he's wide open.

Stiff. Can't turn, and so, can't cover.

Just proved my point with Sean Taylor you couldnt answer, now with Troy... yes uh wut" did I studder? His last year at USC he didn't have one interception and didn't make plays besides blocking 2 punts years before, so he was scrutinized for his lack of play-making and ball hawking skills.

if u really wacth usc games you'll pete carroll basically had mays as far back as possible basically punt return
also taylor mays was clocked by scouts at 4.35 fact.
im not saying im in luv with mays but some people on here thought nate allen was amazing just beacause mike jenkins said so
yes the cowboys did have burnett and allen ranked ahead of mays doesnt mean he's not talented
all im sayinh is if mays wins any i repeat ANY type of award or makes ANY big play i wanna see you guys talk about him then

I'll concede Mays is seriously fast, especially for a dude 230 pounds, give or take. Not 4.24 fast, but even given that, it's strictly straight ahead speed. Myself, I'd rather have a guy 4.6 with great cover skills who actually made a lot of plays in college.

I would have had no problem if Mays was a 4th round or later selection, but 2nd round was way too high.

All I know is Pete Carrol . . . his college coach . . . had a need at the position, and the ability to draft him.

He elected to pass and went with a Earl Thomas.

Taylor Mays is an athelete . . . not a football player.

Good point, when the chance to get Mays was there his former coach went to a guy who has shown himself to be much better in coverage than Mays has shown

Have no problem discussing Mays in the future, not sure how many people will bring him up if he does not do well. As for Allen there were many at this sight high on him before the comment by Jenkins was ever made. Myself I wanted Earl Thomas but he went too early for Dalas

He wasn't the best draft prospect of all time, not even close. You could even argue he wasn't the best safety prospect in 2004. So, we continue the ongoing theme of this thread, what the heck are you talking about? I don't think anyone knows at this point.

Sean was on his way to becoming the most dominant Saftey of all time if he stayed out of legal trouble...

So now you change your story to he 'would've' been the best safety of all time. That's convenient, but still wrong (there's more evidence proving Taylor was average than anything close to the greatest of all time). I think you need to get a new crystal ball cause that one ain't working.

Seans last full year he played... 129 tackles, 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles, hmm Ran over? hahaha hardly. He had to double in coverage of making tackles near the line of scimmage to help support a struggling sucking Commanders rush defense whom I hate.

You post your little statline as if they prove something. The only thing they prove is the Commanders couldn't stop the run...

If Dallas didn't have such a great run defense (most of the time) Roy Williams would've put up similar stats. I guess he woulda been the greatest safety of all time! Again, you really don't have a clue.

Hm, let me see if my stupid to english translator is working...

A safety that makes that many tackles isn't doing it near the line of scrimmage, he's doing it at the second level because his front 7 is being gashed continually. That's not really anything to get out your pom-poms about.

BTW, extremeskins.com is that way... ---->

HAHAHAHA you could even argue he wasn't the best saftey prospect of 2004??? bahahaha, where are you getting this information and who was remotely close to even ever being a better Saftey prospect??? Please tell me I would love to know. Not even Eric Berry comes close to the draft prospect Sean Taylor was, so please tell me.. Sean Taylor was the best saftey draft prospect of ALL TIME and arguably the best draft prospect of ALL-TIME. hahaha can't wait to hear this one. Average at best?? hahaha 2006, 2007 pro bowler. And Ed Reed saying he's the best Saftey hmmm... "So, we continue the ongoing theme of this thread, what the heck are you talking about?" no bro what are you talking about
