GB could have won the SB with Colombo starting at RT...

False. Rodgers still holds onto the ball way too long for it to have worked.

With the abundance of 4 and 5 WR sets the Packers used last year I think Colombo would have been a major problem for them. They leave their tackles on an island ALL THE TIME and they expect the tackles to hold their own for at least a second or two....

Packers were smart enough to spend their #1 pick on a stud OT in Buluga. He had an up and down rookie season but I guarantee they are tickled pink he fell to them.

Probably false. Colombo was one of the worst OL in football last yr.

For all the love GB is getting as the ultimate world beater, they did BARELY make the playoffs. Colombo's awful play might have been enough to cost them another game or two.

Who knows. If you replayed the playoffs again, there's a good chance the Packers don't win it all with the same team. If you could run it 1000s of times, they probably win less than a quarter of them. If they had Colombo instead of Bulaga, it would have slightly lowered their chances. I don't think it's impossible to win a championship with him on the team, but that's true of about every NFL player that doesn't play QB.

I'd go with False.

I think GB would have had to keep in extra guys to help Colombo out.

True. They've been one of the most beat up teams plagued by injuries for the last 2 seasons. They would have found a way.

What's also interesting is that Philly was close to beating GB if not for Akers' (two?) misses.

I think a few days before the game one of Akers' family members was diagnosed with cancer/serious illness or something like that (read it on a Philly fan forum).

Sad for Akers, but I'm happy that Philly lost. Not that I think they would have beaten the Stealers anyway. I think out of the NFC playoff teams last season GB was best positioned to beat the Steelers as GB are an excellent passing team.

GB is leaps and bounds ahead of Dallas. Maybe this season the Boys close the gap.

I still think GB wins it all.

Here is a True and False for ya.

Does GB make the playoffs with either Newman, Scandrick or Jenkins playing DB for them?

I say no.

Part of me wants to say no way the Packers win the SB with one of those three guys -- the strength of GB is the fact that they have 3 Pro-Bowl DBs in Woodson, Tramon William, and Nick Collins with a great young prospect in Sam Shields.

On the other hand, they just kept replacing guys all year long and found a way to win.

FALSE. More so in the NFL than any other sport, you have to have some luck fall your way to win it all. Having Colombo on that GB O-line would have negated enough good luck to stall that offense and prevent GB from winning the SB.

While it would have been possible, I don't think it likely that they would have won it with him playing RT for them in the playoffs. I don't think they would have even made it to the SB. So... FALSE.

False. Colombo was attempting to play while being 'gimped.' That made him worse on the field, than a backup. Two years ago, and I say sure.
