Since my first list didn't seem to work for you I figured I would compile another list for those saying that Dez is a giant failure, a bust of a 1st round pick, and "Average at best". Now I see threads saying he can't catch (Not True) that he is not clutch (Not true..Remember both skins games last year?) and that we should trade him (STUPID. we would never get any value in return anyways!)
First List was a list of current successful Wideouts who Dez easily outperformed in his first 30 games compared to theirs
Greg Jennings
Reggie Wayne
Terrell Owens
Steve Smith
Vincent Jackson
Santonio Holmes
Drew Pearson
Michael Irvin
Now for those of you who continue to say that he is way behind schedule in his development and that a 1st round pick should come in and "Produce" (as if he hasn't) right away I compiled a list of some first round picks.. all receivers.. Who I am betting you would say Dez CLEARLY looks better than..So here it goes (List begins going from 2002-2009) Remember, all these players are 1st round picks most higher picks than Dez.
Player Name (Pcik #)
Donte Stallworth (13th)
Ashley Lelie (19th)
Javon Walker (20th)
Charles Rogers (2nd)
Bryant Johnson (17th
Roy Williams (7th)
Reggie Williams (9th)
Lee Evans (13th)
Michael Clayton (15th)
Michael Jenkins (29th)
Rashaun Woods (31st)
Braylon Edwards (3rd)
Troy Williamson (7th)
Mike Williams (10th
Matt Jones (21st)
Mark Clayton (22nd)
Santonio Holmes (25th)
Ted Ginn Jr (9th)
Robert Meachem (27th)
Craig Davis (30th)
Anthony Gonzalez (32nd)
Darirus Heyward Bey (7th)
Michael Crabtree (10th)
Jeremy Maclin (19th)
Kenny Britt (30th)
Now, surely I will have people telling me I am a Dez defender and that I am Content with him underachieving-- Both being false. I actually do think Dez has underachieved to this point for a variety of reasons but the only reason I say he has underachieved is because I think his potential is so high (top 3 wideout type of talent). I also have been disappointed with his inconsistency but inconsistency is the word that can be applied to most young players..Do I wish he could be unique in that regard and never have bumps in the road? of course. Does that mean I am going to jump of a bridge when he has those bumps in the road? Not quite.
Until I discovered this site I was under the impression that I was harder on Dez than most but seeing as facts, statistics, and talent matters not to some people here I figured I would try to make it simpler for people to understand that what they are saying is flat out wrong.
Some people on this site only watch the Cowboys and nobody else which is fine.. No one is required to be a football junkie but some of the expectations for certain players is ridiculous.. I genuinely believe that some people on this site think that most 1st round wideouts come out of the gates with 1400 yard 14 TD seasons.. It doesn't happen like that.
IDK what else to say lol I'm almost positive there will be multiple comments trying to discount what I am saying or to discredit his talent and his actual production but I laid out some facts and hopefully I can change some minds.
MY BIGGEST FEAR is that all the pressure from some fans and media is going to lead to us getting rid of Dez and having to watch him continue to grow into one of the best wide receivers in the game on a different team..
