trying to figure out my auto insurance deductible

Correct.

If the bill isn't much higher than $250 it's not worth getting the insurance involved because your rates will go up. Pay the extra cost out of pocket and go on with life.

actually most carriers will pay all but the deductible, like if your repair estimate is 1500.00 and your deductible is 250.00 they will either cut you a check for 1250.00 or pay the repair shop directly the 1250.00, most people will have the check cut to them and get the repairs done cheaper...

Not necessarily true if it's for glass coverage which is the case here (I think).
