Trying to have a rational calm look at the game

Few of you took Jacksonville serious. They are Super Bowl contenders. They were 12-4 last year. They might have the league's best defense. They probably have the best defensive line in football. They have 3 young talented wideouts who are trying to erase the Jimmy Smith myth, and they also have one of the best young unheralded QBs in the league. So just keep that in mind. We lost to a darn good team. They may not get as much media attention as the Pats, Steelers, or Colts but they're one of the AFC's elite teams, they just play in a small market.

And Bledsoe.... I was ready to bench him before this game. But you have to wonder why he suddenly fell apart? If him and TO had connected on that TD pass in the late 1st/early 2nd, it would have been 17-0 and the Jags never would have come back. That miss was only because TO and Bledsoe hadn't practiced enough. The rust showed. But he looked pretty darn sharp before the 2nd quarter. The offensive line started giving in a little, and we know how he gets when there's pressure, but was it the rain? Concussion? He looked shakey. He was suddenly warming up on the sideline trying to shake something off. What I'm trying to say is Bledsoe is Bledsoe, I've never thought he was the savior in Big D, but I think something happened.

The defense collapsed a little, but some of those points were off of Bledsoe INTs. I noticed a lot of passes being completed in Henry's direction and then noticed more of Keith Davis later in the game, so my question is did Watkins blow some assignments?

The good news is a lot of Super Bowl teams in the age of parity come on strong in the late half of the season. We still have time to fix this thing.

Yeah, people are being a bit stupid about this. Jacksonville is a very good team.

Last year Seattle lost to them in the first game of the season and then went on to go to the Super Bowl.

Bledsoe and Owens have had very little practice time, but they looked pretty good out there. They will continue to get better throughout the season.

Our defense was disappointing, but hopefully we can recover and get better.

This is just one game. We didn't become a bad team just because we didn't win.

This just in: Jacksonville is not a playoff team in the AFC this year, and we just got beaten down by them

That's just ignorant. Jax is an excellent team, possible SB contender. 12 wins last year and they added some youth in the draft and play in a weak division.

That said, I just can't get over the play calling.

Like they tried to not lose.

they are not a SB contender. but a playoff contender- yes. still a team that we should be able to beat. really blown out with how the game started but then Bledslow made sure that wouldnt happen with his picks and over throwing right open receivers

Indy, Cincy and Pitt yes, everyone else is a good, not great team. Maybe, maybe Baltimore, but I'm not sold on them at all.

Trueblue, I was at the game too and as you I had mentioned in here that you can't underestimate these Jaguars. That said we had this game in hand but killed ourselves with penalties and interceptions. Toward the end of the second half we started to play sluggish and uninspired. Bledsoe had no zip on his passes.

I wonder if we overworked the team over the last several days. The Boyz came out strong and then fizzled. The Jags started gathering up steam and almost became a runaway freight train in the second half. Matt Jones had his coming out party. And they seemed to make an inordinate amount of first downs against our defense.

Nah... up 10-0 and we should have had 17-0 at the half instead of 10-10. Drew was STUPID and we ahad many DUMB penalties. He crubled.

Houston or ANY team in the NFL could have done this (and maybe whipped us better).

Jacksonville did almost NOTHING except a few good passes that were pretty "thread the needle" and risky. Their D was nothing special, nor was their rush or special teams play.

I think we all respected the Jax D...and in particular the dts, full strength or not.

But Jax is also a team with a starting qb that many hometowners were/are eager to run out of town - and that was before Garrad won 4 of 5 late last season. Jimmy Smith retired, and Jones, tall and fast, or not, still 'learning'..Taylor a force, but injury prone..and years of injury take a toll on a runner.

I was stunned Leftwich came back from that hit by Roy and threaded those needles, after starting so sluggishly. Just did not expect to be beaten by their quarterback today.

Didn't expect to be beaten by OUR quarterback today either.

Yeah that was obvious with all the runs we were calling.

I laugh at people that think they know anything about the playcalling. Im sure they designed the plays so Bledsoe would throw picks.

I think that one or 2 plays completely changed the entire complex of the game. When we were up by 10, we had tons of chances to move it to 17 - 0 and didn't.

Had we moved the score to 17 zero, I think we could've run away with it. But we didn't, we lose now let's get on to the Washington game.

Seems like the first qtr. Dallas was strong and on their game but then on, they got out played and ran out of gas.
