I agree with him on the mental part, but I don’t think it’s weakness I think it’s something like entitlement. They think because they’re a Cowboy they’ve made it. Win a couple big games and it’s time to hit the bars and be famous. I think it’d help if they stayed grounded but how can you explain that to some 21 year olds.
Then again there’s no way the game is 90% mental, some people can roll out of bed and run a 4.4 forty or play for 10 years without even spraining an ankle. If it were only 10% physical a lot more people could do it.
You do realize where this "entitlement" attitude comes from, right? When the owner and his son pass themselves off as football savants...that is where the fraudulent environment begins. And the funny thing is how often they repeat the same mistakes. They hired a head coach and TOLD him who the offensive coordinator would be and who would call plays. (haven't we seen them do that before?) The the head coach gets mad and hires his buddy to be the defensive coordinator. So you had a head coach who has been out of football. You have a defensive coordinator who has been out of football. And you have an offensive coordinator that they think is Sean McVey, but is really just a guy that is learning on the job.... at the NFL level (you can't make this stuff up).
They field a team that is head and shoulders better than their opponents in the NFC East....and the Jones boys use how easily we dominate the NFC East as an assessment of where this football program is. I am sure that made the Jones boys feel good about themselves and thus the players felt good about themselves. Then the 49ers show us what a real football coach and a real football team look like and the Jones boys have another offseason where they look like discovered a football franchise on a treasure hunt and have no clue what to do (what else is new)
And don't get me started with them putting the #88 on WRs, or the #94 on DEs....don't overlook the part that plays into the culture. I mean...Randy Gregory.....a 2nd round pick that hardly ever saw the field early in his career...what message did him donning #94 send him and the locker room?
