News: TS: ESPN NFL Analyst Ryan Clark Apologizes For Reaction To Cowboys Trade

Ummm, ummmm. Good on RC to recant what he said, but this is more damage control than anything IMO. What team did RC play for? The fact is, only the Steelers know why they moved off of GP and if very well could have been for the on-field garbage they put up with him. It could have been a "business" decision. Time will tell what happens here, but RC said what many have, and honestly, it's his prerogative to think that I still approve of the trade pending further evaluation in 12 months

Money. They have money allocated to Watt and others. Still trying to sign Rodgers too. They had to trim fat somewhere.
According to over the cap they currently have 31 million in space this year, 93 million available next year, and 192 million in 2027 available. They have the money, they have the need, so again, why didn't they extend him?

I have tons of respect for Ryan Clark. He is as straightforward, thoughtful and thorough as they come--even when following up on his own comments. I would go back to watching sports talk shows more often if professionals like him would permanently replace the Stephen A. Smiths and Colin Cowherds of the industry.
I came here to say this exact same thing. RC exemplifies integrity.

Yes, and I haven't heard anything about anything else either. On the field, how much of it is passion, frustration, and him being immature? I will say this, the spot light will be shining on him in Dallas, nowhere to hide. No one can shield him when you play for Dallas. If there is a hint of an issue on or off the field, the spotlight will be on that alone and he can't escape it. I don't have a crystal ball, and dunno if this experiment will work past this year.
Pittsburgh has reportedly fined him over 200,000$ for his attitude and antics over the last 2 years

That is an insane amount of money for a guy on a rookie contract that wasn’t a first round pick

A lot of people don't apologize for their wrongdoings, and lack accountability of any sort...good move for Ryan to clean that up.
exactly, he apologized, and people in here are still bashing him!!! He should have just came out and said HE'S THE GREATEST, he's great, he'll be great, and he was born great!!!! They would have said "aww man I always loved Ryan Clark!" lol

That money you correctly showed is more than likely going to be allocated to others. They have a lot of things to figure out there. I imagine Rodgers will want a hefty signing bonus. Also, maybe they didn't wanna deal with 2 talented divas when they don't even have QB yet. It could also mean they are organically going to tank. I think they are looking ahead to 2026, Arch Manning.

Winning can mask a lot and make you tolerate a lot of bs. See one Michael Irvin. If his talent is such, we are winning, he's going to be tolerated. Otherwise, he's gone from Dallas in 2026.

Ridiculous. What's to apologize for? For thinking there was a good reason Tomlin wanted rid of a talented player? Now we're going to act like Pickens is a perfect soldier? Come on.

Maybe say after talking to some people you've changed your mind a bit. But don't apologize when Tomlin himself said repeatedly that Pickens needed to grow up because he was hurting the team.
The main reason that they traded him is the amount of money it would take to sign him to a new contract.

Sure.

If that's true, why did we sign him? We're in the same situation they were. Do you think we're going to pay him and CeeDee?

But I know you rubberstamp everything we do. It'll all turn out great.

Who's their QB again? Mason Rudolph? Skylar Thompson? Why sign a massive 2nd contract when you have no idea who is playing QB. Or perhaps you think Rodgers is going to sign with them. Well then there goes all your cap space.

RC loves the Steelers and likely has a good relationship with Pickens.

My theory: RC never wanted to slander Pickens, but the ESPN Execs (and Screamin A) mandated he do so on First Take, for clicks.

On his own platform, he cleaned it up and spoke truthfully.

We signed him because he is exactly what they needed. They are trying to win now. You haven't noticed that?

Now that might be something. I'd understand them loading up picks to try and build around a young qb that they don't even have yet. That makes sense.

Because having a stud wr makes any qb better. They have the money to pay the receiver. If the Cowboys could benefit pairing CD and Pickens then you also have to agree that DJ Metcalf and Pickens is a good duo.

Again, who is their QB?

Again it doesn't matter. I don't care if you are their QB, you'd be better off having 2 really good WR's as opposed to only 1. Harder for any defense to take away 2 really good receivers but easy to take away 1. If you are with Rayman70's thinking maybe they want to tank then just say that.

Fan: "I hate that guy!"

(After watching "that guy" score three consecutive touchdowns to bring your team from behind and win)

Fan: I love that guy!
